Why Your Short Film Was Rejected by Film Festivals
You’re sitting in front of your laptop. It’s 2AM, and you’ve just gotten the forty-seventh rejection email from a film festival you entered your short film into. Depressed, you slump and lay your face on the keyboard, questioning why you ever thought you could make a movie.

Young Queens, NYC Actor Amir Royale Appears in New Episode of The ‘NEXT STOP’ Podcast
From Multitude Productions A lot of what is going into these scripts happened to me in the last few years. I was right out of college, figuring out what it was like to live in an apartment and keep my bank account from hitting zero. I thought I was going to be an English teacher and got a graduate degree and a job for it. Then I realized I had some choice in the matter, and I wanted to do something completely different. From there, it’s been a joyful struggle to get to where I am, and I have joyfully struggled alongside my roommates. I’m telling you this story because this is pretty much happened. Sure, it’s exaggerated because stories get exaggerated, but it should feel believable. I don’t want to write a nostalgic story about my early 20s, or about how I’m going to maybe have kids and change in my 30s. I am writing about the turbulent time in my mid-20s when people are changing around me.

Rising Actor & Filmmaker Amir Royale Releases New Short Film 'Please Stop Calling Me'
From Amir Royale I made ‘PLEASE STOP CALLING ME’ originally with the intention of creating the story of a break-up. But, somehow, I quite miraculously came across a story that seemed to cause a deeper wound for me. I am not queer nor bisexual—and in this creation I’m in no way trying to speak for or against that crowd. Truthfully, I know many artisans, creators and beautiful beings my age (and older) that happen to be LGBTQ and I respect and love them with all my heart. Yet, in a weird way, this story came to me by accident through a simple question: "How wrong is cheating in the midst of insecurities?" I have my own personal stance on the answer, one I don’t really want to state, but I more so wanted this film to hear an audience’s answer as well.

Harley Quinn
I’ve always thought that DC’s cinematic universe should pull from it's rich cartoon history as they have always performed better in that medium then they have in their comics. Both in animated television and movies they’ve already provided themselves with rich source material to adapt into live action, yet that seems to not have crossed any DC executives mind. However Harley Quinn doesn’t have much in the ways of independence in the cartoon universe, nearly all of her appearances are tied to another major character in the Batman universe, that said she does have plenty of her own story lines in the comics. Today we will be discussing the origins of Harley Quinn and what solo story lines would have been a better jumping off point for the character then Birds of Prey, a team she was never apart of and had very few interactions with...

Neo-Liberalism as Marketing in Comics
It’s a familiar sight. You enter the local comic book shop (if you even have a comic book shop) and see the shelves packed full of bland, stupid looking funko pop dolls and done to death recycled trite. Books that sell based on nothing more than name recognition and an endless series of gimmicks. What if Thor was a woman? What if Spiderman was black? What if ice man was gay? Forget telling a compelling story, simply changing the characters demographic data to the trending minority of the week should be more than enough to draw new readers. Right?

IF JOKER WASN'T nominated THE OSCARS ARE DONE
Earlier this year, a widespread scandal of lies and false assumptions was whirling around the media/internet with a frenzy, this was the notion that the upcoming film by director Todd Philps "JOKER" depicting the clown prince of crime was a dangerous film and might inspire mass shootings or violence/impersonators of the character depicted in the film.

Why Are Modern Movies Getting More and More Expensive?
Over the past 20 years, the direction of the Hollywood movie landscape has changed drastically, with different views on if it has changed for the better or the worse. There have been many different changes but one thing for certain is that the budget for most movies seems to just keep getting higher and higher, more specifically the budget for big blockbusters. But why is this? Is it due to inflation? Is the economy just not as good as it used to be? While those are definitely a factor they are not the main culprit so let's take an in-depth look into the inner workings of what makes up the budget of a movie.

Censorship
TRIGGERED!!! Censorship and “trigger warnings” are hot topics right now. In this day and age, it feels like everyone is just WAITING to be offended. And don’t get me wrong, sometimes it’s justified. If what you’re experiencing is true harassment, you have every right to be upset and offended. But when I hear about some of the things that people are complaining about, I can’t help but think that those people are taking it too far.nLet me give you an example…if you’re at work and someone is making sexual comments towards you or another co-worker, that is harassment and should be stopped. On the other hand, if you are at a comedy show and the comedian makes a joke that you dislike or are offended by, that is something that should be left alone. It all comes down to free speech.
