Natalie's Pov
During the entire lesson, I could feel the new guy's eyes staring into my back. I continued watching the clock above the chalk board, counting down the minutes until the bell rang. Finally, after what seemed like hours, my favorite sound of the bell started ringing, letting us know that classes were over. A lot of the students had big plans after class. Although it was Monday, high school kids knew how to party.
I carried my books to my locker with the party on my mind.
"Hi," I hear a male voice say behind my locker door.
I closed it and stared into the eyes of the new kid, Johnathan.
"Hi," I said giving a small smile and lugging my book sack on my right shoulder and turning around.
He followed next to me. "I'm Johnathan."
"I know... Natalie," I introduced, hoping he got the hint of me not caring.
He chuckled. "I know. Where are heading on this lovely day?"
"Why does it concern you?" I asked looking around hoping no one was watching this weird scene of the new dude talking to me.
He chuckled once more. "I might want to come."
"You weren't invited," I simply stated.
He laughed as we walked outside. I saw Carol and Lukas standing by her car. I was finally saved!
"Hey! Ready?" Carol asked with a giggle.
I nodded and made a gesture with my eyes that Johnathan was standing there. She didn't get the hint.
"Hey, you want to tag along?" She asked him.
I mentally face-palmed as he nodded. By the look on Lukas's face, he wasn't too happy about it either. That boy has had a crush on me since the very first moment I moved here from Montana. He had also asked me out a few times, but I really didn't want to ruin the close friendship we had together. But from time to time he would ask me out.
We all crowded into Carol's car. Me in the front and the boys in the back. The drive to Malcolm's house was followed by awkward silence. I hated this. Thanks Carol. I loved her to death, but she never gathered the hints I would throw at her.
After a few minutes of total car silence, we pulled into the driveway of our host's house.
Loud music met us as we opened the doors.
"What's the point of a pool party if I didn't bring anything to swim in?" Johnathan spoke up as we made our way to the front door.
"No worries," Carol said. "Malcolm is my brother, I'm sure he has an extra pair of trunks in his closet."
Johnathan nodded and smirked at me. What's up with this dude? He looked me up and down. My mind was going one hundred miles an hour at the thought of whatever he was thinking.
This was not my idea of fun. A dude who annoyed the living whatever out of me following me around was the last thing I wanted to do today. In all honesty, I would rather be sitting in a classroom after hours staring at the clock than being followed by him. But I guess all I could do now was avoid him till it was time to return home.
"What about you?" He asked me.
"I don't swim," I stated walking into the house and getting lost in the crowd.
This dude was annoying me. I couldn't stand being around him. I don't know why I was feeling hate towards him. Guys like him make good guys look bad. Perhaps I was overreacting, and he was a nice person. But his approach was all wrong. Everything about him seemed to be wrong. But I just didn't have the patience to figure him out.
