The Chase
Late summer happens to be one of my favorite times of the year. The reason being that the temperature starts to drop a little and that makes a big difference when living in the southern United States. My favorite part of that season is when the mosquitos start to disappear, hate the bites. Feels like that if they're allowed, they'll drain you dry of all your vital fluids.

It Will Come Back
Something was out there, in the murky swamp, and it was eating her food. It started with the trash can out back being overturned. Then the pies and breads she set on the windowsill to cool started going missing. She didn’t care much about whatever was out there, after all the problem was simple enough to solve. She started letting things cool on the kitchen counter, both to deter whatever was out there and to save some money, since she couldn’t afford to make daily trips to the nearest town’s grocery and keep up with her aging father’s abundant medical bills. He was bedridden now, iller than she’d ever seen him.

Nope review: Is Jordan Peele's latest sci-fi horror his best film yet?
In 2017, Jordan Peele, best known, at the time, for his comedy work on the popular sitcom Key and Peele, and a variety of feature film outings, including Keanu, shocked cinemagoers around the world with his horror film debut, Get Out, which singularly redefined the genre, receiving critical acclaim and later earning the director/writer his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. The mixed response from audiences over its genre notwithstanding (something Peele later lamented when acknowledging the genre confusion caused by the Oscar-winning flick), Peele created something truly special with Get Out, providing a terrifying and wholly unique look at liberal racism through intensely provocative social commentary and a deeply unsettling premise.

There's Something Wrong With Prentice
Ms. Turner was mid sentence about the effects of World War II on the US economy when the classroom door to room 13 flew open unexpectedly, slamming against the wall behind it. Prentice slithered in, shoulders hunched, his black sweatshirt entirely too big for his small frame, the hood so far over his head that his eyes could barely be seen peeking out from underneath. He hurried through the doorway, examining his feet as he strode to the back of the room, avoiding the classroom’s wandering eyes.

Ghost Crabbing
“Wanna go ghost crab huntin with us?” The question startled Brad. He looked down and saw two kids standing at the edge of the marsh with a bucket. It was not uncommon, people always walk down towards the marsh during low tide. It was however strange, in Brad’s mind, to be asked by two strange kids if he wanted to go down there. Brad had grown up near the island and usually walked the causeway to the beach a couple times a week. This particular day he happened to stop on one of the small bridges that crossed the salt-water creek and look out across the marsh lands.

Gericht
The guns stopped firing right as the rain did at two pm. Private Muller lit a cigarette scavenged from a nearby body—a boy, who couldn’t be a day older than seventeen. Muller appreciated a moment of relative silence. Somewhere far down the line, he could still hear the big guns going, the gray horizon lit with bursts of red and orange glow. Here it was quiet.
