Humans… ever changing yet ever the same

As a whole, we as people keep letting others decide our place in the world. I feel as I get older myself I see this happen more and more often. We stopped dreaming, we stopped making our way in the world as we see it and have fallen victim to the monotonous work, media and time loop of life. It’s terrifying to me how many people have stopped trying to create something of their own. We all fall victim to this lack of life at some time, and yet we let it keep happening to the younger generations too.

How often do you go out into the world and see people having a genuine conversation with one another, no phones, no screens no other distraction. Just the people interacting with one another. How often do you go on your break at work and scroll mindlessly on your phone? How often do you watch a movie and you need more than the story on the screen? Many have fallen victim to these conveniences of the smart phone, of social media. But in doing so we have lost our freedoms. Freedom of the mind, being able to think clearly or sit in silence seems to be a dying art.

When people made computers, I am sure that the goal was to help us be more efficient in our work to give us more time to live our lives out as we wish. However, this seems to have been counter acted by the greed of the peoples that we are sentenced to work for. I understand the fact that we all need jobs and money to live. Livelihoods are important. The work life balances of people seem to be lacking in a lot of ways in the United States. Many people work hard and then come home and distract themselves from their reality. Reality is hard to face for many. We stopped trying to change.

There are many times in history where a turning point needs to happen and I think we are there. We are back to a point where the populous has less control than that of a few leaders and we let it happen slowly but surely. We seem helpless when our people don’t listen. We use the internet and we don’t know what’s true or not anymore. Especially with the irresponsible usage of AI. We didn’t stop this from happening because hardly anyone takes that initiative on to themselves. Those who do lack the physcial support and back up they need to really make a difference. We hide. We all hide behind our screens, our phones, our comfort shows, our people we watch online that we have never met and probably never will. Many people have been living vicariously through others. But what difference does that really make. At what point do we tip over the edge and realize that we work hard only to be stuck paying to live, paying to own nothing. We get no where in this cycle until it breaks.

I believe we as a whole are all too comfortable with our lives. We fight for nothing, at least we don’t really fight. We may talk the talk with people but who stops paying for their subscriptions to let the poeple who own everything fall. Not enough. Who is out there trying to get people to realize we. Own. Nothing. Less homes are being built, more physical media is become harder to find. The economy, institutions, corporations, they are all trying to trap us in our own little cages of comfort. What are we willing to do to break out of it?
