My Living Nightmare
You are my living nightmare. Every time I would close my eyes, I could see your face, hear your laughter and see that devilish smile. Every time someone would mention your name was a reminder of how deeply you’ve left a cut in my memory and heart. I can still hear the words you said to me each day we spent together. The lies echoing in my ears then spreads like a poison infecting my wounded and beaten heart. Yet it still beats, feels, loves, cares and longs for you. Why? Why did this foolish heart of mine fall into the hands of someone who treats it so carelessly? Why did I stay with you when you constantly pushed me away? Why did I let you force me into situations I didn’t want to be in? Why did you make me choose you over my family? Why did you force me to betray my own friends, who might I add, are more loyal to me than you will ever be? Why did I not listen to the warnings of those around me? They tried to save me before it was too late. They knew what you were. They know what you did.

Dating Disaster
I was outside visiting a friend of mine. He was washing his car and out came his next door neighbor. “Erika this is So and So. So and So, this is Erika.” We both said the niceties that come after and introduction – “Nice to meet you.” All three of us engaged in conversation, small talk, nothing too deep. Eventually the So and So went into his house and my friend and I went into his house. Eventually So and So called my friend and asked for my number. No big deal right? He seemed cool and harmless, and he was funny. I’m all for a good laugh. Eventually he called me and asked if I wanted to get something to eat — I do enjoy eating so naturally I said yes. I met up with him and we ate and laughed, laughed and ate. I thought, “Okay, not bad. I’m not attracted to him but the conversation is flowing nicely and the food is tasty.” So we said our goodbyes and parted ways.

Final Mascarade
You turned into someone else that I don't know, so I talk to myself feeling weird but knowing that it helps me from going crazy. Maybe I'm already crazy. Only I can figure that out. I worry about you and have to say goodbye, packing it up, and disappearing. You better have some place to go because you can't come running back to me. I am finally forgetting about you and it makes you so mad that I'm moving on and am finally having fun without you. Goodbye.

Millennials seem to be having the hardest time grabbing onto a relationship that they’re willing to keep. It has become a paradox; everyone talks about how they want a faithful lover yet they aren’t committed when getting into a serious relationship. Here’s a news flash kiddos, you have to want to be faithful to be in a committed relationship! Contrary to popular belief, “talking” in today’s society is considered “dating” and it’s one of the biggest problems with the way young adults believe they should begin their journey of love. It started out so innocently. A girl meets a boy online. They talk daily. Not only over the phone, but video calls as well. They live over a thousand miles apart. Years go by and they continue with their usual ways. They wake up, text here and there, and at the end of the day they make their calls. Telling one another they love each other. The feelings are strong between them.

The Coffee Shop
“Hello, welcome to Black Beans Coffee Shop. What can I get you?” Like a broken record, it was always the same question. This was then followed by the same dry and rehearsed response. Then, mindlessly, the barista turns and begins to put together the customer’s order. As soon as the order was complete, the barista would stand in front of the register and hand off the order to the customer, in return for some form of payment. Everything was done very robotically and structured, never falling out of line or adding anything to change the routine that was in place. Each straw sat still in the glass holster on the counter, every plastic fork was in the correct compartment and would never be mixed in with the plastic spoons, and every bottle of water was turned to face forward, so that the labels were easy to see, as if they were standing at attention. Everything had its place.
