dating
All about dating. First dates, three years into a relationship, Tinder, and more.
My Weakness for the Forbidden
What have I gotten myself into? I am totally in love with someone who I know I will never have a serious relationship with. When I met him three years ago our relationship consisted of just occasional sex, that's it. He is someone who I would have stayed away from in my younger days. He has about ten children and the baby mamas to go with them. Who wants that headache full time? Not me, so I thought! These three years have consisted of me mostly being upset with him because of his lack of keeping commitments. He never seemed to come through when he said he would with things like dates and hooking up for some late night action. Despite me being upset with him and breaking it off a dozen times I managed to fall for him. I think the mystery of him intrigued me. He really didn't say much about his personal life, in fact what I did know about him I learned through my own detective work.

Dating as a Single Mom
I am blessed enough to have 3 amazing children (I know I might be biased but they are actually amazing kids). Unfortunately my relationship with their father didn't work out and we separated pretty dramatically. I still have my battles and challenges over parenting with my ex. Adding trying to dating into the mix and I feel like I am in a 3 ring circus.

5 People to Avoid When Dating
Love is complicated and fun; it is amazing and life changing. Finding love, however, is all of the above with some very brutal lessons in the process. In commenting on a friend's post, I was inspired to share some lessons that lead to Love's very honest truth. It wasn't until I had a friend that told me what to look for that I understood that when people were having a great time dating, I was having some of the worst experiences ever.

My Dating Experience
Entry One: A brief look into the beginning and my past. I'll say without a doubt it was love at first sight. Our first date was something like the in the movies. Our original plan was to go for a walk along the boardwalk then go to lunch. We went for a walk, had lunch and we just didn't want the date to end. We were having fun, so we drove to a nearby park to go for another walk. Right before we got out of the car, we had our first kiss. Immediately after that we start to feel like a couple. I had already felt close after a few weeks of, messaging and two phone calls, but now it was starting something beautiful. We decided we should keep the date going and headed to the movies. We played arcade games, laughed, and kissed. In one day we had already felt like we had known each for years. And suddenly something that I had never thought would happened took place. I was in love.

Dating: What Does It Mean to You?
I have been divorced for as many years as I was married. I tried dating. The first relationship ended with a phone call saying needs weren't being met. He married someone who met those needs within a year of our breakup. I was told they divorced within a year or two.

Wisteria
Life is too short to not see the beauty in things, too short to allow something deemed as "ugly" to go completely ignored or abandoned. Living by this taught me to appreciate the good in the bad, no matter how hard it can be to do so. I was able to be patient with people, to try to know them before judging them too harshly. I had to weed out the bad qualities and find the good ones in order to do this.

Do Long Distance Relationships Really Last?
The answer, in my opinion, is it depends. When I say "it depends," I strongly believe that it depends on the two people. If you were to ask me three of four years ago if LDRs last, my answer would be a strong no. It's funny how over a period of time things change and a no becomes a yes.

Boiling the Frog
It’s the summer holidays and as my day job is related to education, that is when I take a lot of my time off. My partner and I have just come back from a week and a half in Spain and then we just spent the long weekend in Amsterdam. It was really great for Jose and me to spend that time with each other and really calibrate ourselves, and by that I mean each self and then the third "self" that is us. I mean, we didn’t sit around contemplating our navels and trying to communicate telepathically or anything quite like that (although we got pretty close in Amsterdam when we tried mushrooms, that was until Jose came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his head with our toothbrushes as horns). We were our natural, unfiltered, and unaffected selves and it was nice to go back to point zero.

Signs You Feel Insecure Around Your Partner
If you just started a relationship with someone or have been dating them for a while, there are times when you might feel insecure. It's okay to have occasional insecurities. But it can be worrisome if you are consistently questioning your partner and not feeling loved and protected by them.

The Mask
What if it were true? I wish people would just give that a thought: What if what I am saying is actually true? What if there really is another person behind that nice mask of smiles, friendly talks, and prayers… the pastor mask? I wouldn’t be able to believe it either had I not lived it.
