I Feel Alone...
What is wrong with me? Sometimes I ask myself that. It is hard for me to make friends. Sometimes I feel disconnected with myself and from others. Before I get into it, I must warn you that I am just writing how I feel; I am not taking the time to edit and "tweak" my words to make them sound nice. I want to keep my words authentic.

Hello World
For the first time in my life, I've decided to step out of the shadows. This is the most frightening experience of my life, next to giving birth, but that's a story for another time. I've always spent my time focusing on what I was told would be best and just doing what I was good at. I've given myself freely to my friends, family, and strangers, sometimes leaving nothing for myself. I spent the first 20 years of my life focused on education, so I could get a good paying job and provide a worry free life for myself. "Worry Free," HA! Seems like a joke now that I'm in my thirties.

The "Friend"
Hello guys, and welcome to my first story. The story I am about to give you is about one of my favorite words "Friends." Friendship is a relationship that you have with people you have known for some time, or since the beginning of your time. Friendships are meant to be sacred, trustful, and most times full of lots of fun, but sometimes as being in the real world, friends don't always last. You my lose contact with that person: they could have lost your phone number, or you they are just too busy with other things, but there is one thing about the real world that makes me sad to realize; that they may have never been your friend to begin with.

Why Don't I Have Friends?
When I was a kid I never had many friends. I was always fairly advanced for my grade, so my teachers had to occupy me with other, different activities. You guys already know: No one likes a teacher's pet. The other kids did not like me much, and usually avoided me. I was constantly under my teachers, and they always gave me praise, which felt good, but it would have been nice to be able to celebrate success with other students my own age. At recess I did not play with the other children. I just sat down beside a teacher I knew, or played alone. In partner activities no one paired up with me, and if they had to, they didn't talk to me, and I ended up doing all the work.

A Thank You to All My Friends
To The One Who Has Always Been Family: Our families have known each other for a few years short of two decades, and have loved each other just as long. No matter where life takes us and our families, we will always share an unbreakable bond because along the way, our families became one. Friendship Takes Effort
Honestly, friendship is a touchy topic for me. Back in elementary and high school, whenever my mom said something like, “What is your friend's name,” or “Is she your friend?” I always corrected her and said, “That’s not my friend, that’s my schoolmate.” Mostly because my mom calls everybody I talk to a friend, even if I only talked to them once. But anyways, the point is, a friend to me is much more than talking to someone a couple of times. A friend is someone you can trust, someone you can confide in, and someone you can go to anytime for help. I get that there can be different levels to friendship; some friends may be good for some things, while others are good for something else. You can know a lot of people, but can you really call all of them your friends? No, they are called acquaintances, in my opinion.

Seeing the Light in Everything
Have you ever met someone and instantly click with them? That’s exactly what happened between my best friend and I. The start of junior year was rough for me. I attend a small private school (26 girls total) and all of my friends graduated the previous year. I was starting fresh. A new girl came and our levels of sarcasm met each other. We became connected at the hip. We never did anything without each other. To the extent that when she had a life-altering surgery in her home state, I flew out to be with her. Then senior year started. I began to realize I was more negative around this best friend and more pessimistic. I started to see that she made me push away all of my friends that she didn’t like. I started distancing myself slowly, as not to make a mess of an already messy situation. Then one night she snapped. She started treating me like I murdered her family. She began to reveal my secrets that I told ONLY to her. She started befriending people she couldn’t stand that she made me separate from.

My Best Friend Is Still Friends with My Abuser
I had a best friend for six years. We had the same birthday, only an hour apart. Like any relationship, he and I had our ups and our downs, but back then it felt like a great relationship, one I couldn't live without, almost. We met sophomore year of high school, and became best friends the following year. We were close. We loved each other. I've tried to write about him on here before, but every time I can't quite figure out the words to explain what he ended up doing to me, through his actions and through his words. But bottom line: he emotionally abused the crap out of me at the end of our relationship; the last six months with him were hell and I ended up hating him instead of loving him. It was a terrible end to such a beautiful relationship. Or so I thought, until I stopped speaking to him and realized what I had actually put up with when it came to being his best friend. The crap I dealt with because of him over the years, and I ended up hating him even more.
