marriage
Marriage is not so much a word as it is a sentence–a life sentence.
I Promised You Forever, but What Did You Promise Me?
You had decided that, after only a few short weeks of knowing me, you wanted to devote the rest of your life to me. I remember that day as if it happened yesterday. It came from nowhere. I received two text messages, back to back, one reading, "I am totally and completely in love with you," while the message that followed read, "I will marry you. It's not a question of if, but when." My heart dropped into my stomach, as days before, as we were driving back to your place from sitting on the lake, you informed me that you were never, ever getting married. We were discussing my previous marriages, and we discussed how you had spent so very long with someone before me without ever discussing marrying her. You told me that if you ever did get married, you'd likely be in your forties and had been with the lady for many, many years.

I just got off the phone with my best friend Bob today. He is a great guy. We chat about many things when we are on the phone. Even though he is in California and I am in New York, I can easily tell by the sound of his voice is that he is very happy. He should be happy. He has a wonderful family because he found a wonderful wife who makes him happy and he makes her happy as well.

The Estrogen vs Testosterone War
If you look back through history, many countries, including my country, the United States, have been involved in many battles in their existence: the Revolutionary War, World War I, World War II, the Mexican-American War, Vietnam, Afghanistan, the Iraqi War, the Korean War, and many other famous battles that I have not listed.

A Letter to the Other Woman
Dear -----, Today is the day I take back my life back. From this day forward, you will not haunt me. The greatest revenge is living a happy life. That is what I intend to do. I have always been a happy, positive person and this has not changed that. If anything, my jovial nature has helped me through and it is something my husband admires about me. I know you think that our life is forever altered and you would be right. Just not in the way you think. It has been altered for the better. We both realized something through all of this and that was just how much we really do actually love each other. The day it all came out and I had a choice to leave. It was in that moment when everything was on the line, that we realized that a life without each other was just not possible.

What Love Looks Like
It was a windy yet beautiful spring day. The barn was decorated with lanterns and lavender, the dessert table consisted of Captain America decorated cupcakes. And the venue was packed with people that I had never met and ones that I didn’t remember. My cousin’s wedding was beautiful and though I had never met her fiancé before the big day I knew from the minute I heard their vows that they would be perfect together.

Dear Future Husband
To the man that I love with all my heart, Thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for me and for my child. I don't know how many times I will say thank you just to make sure you understand how thankful I really am. (It will probably be a thousand times a day or maybe even a minute if possible.)
