In my haste to get somewhere, I would sprint up a flight of stairs, which would leave me out of breath. It was humiliating. People would enquire about my wellbeing. My pulse rate would jump to 139 with only a quick dash up a flight of stairs.

The sensation of food in our mouths
I've mostly encountered the world through my mouth since I can remember. I used to rush up to the kitchen counter when I was a kid to eat slice after slice of warm, handmade bread coated with salty butter. The crunchy shell of the gingersnap gave way to the chewy, fragrant center with a simple movement of the tongue and jaw, and it was a revelation on my first bite. My sense of taste seemed extrasensory—a superpower designed for purposes other than basic survival. I was in a state of happiness and felt oddly thankful that something, one thing, could make me feel so good.

I’m Glad My Mom Died: A Book Review of Jennette McCurdy’s Masterpiece
It’s been just over a month since Jennette McCurdy’s book ‘I’m Glad My Mom Died’ was released, and I don’t think it’s been talked about enough. I honestly think that there are a few reasons for this, not the least of which is that this book is hard to read. The book contains references to mental illness, psychological and sexual abuse, and is genuinely uncomfortable in its bluntness at times. But it is also a genuinely unforgettable read.

Lactose intolerance
I thought I had an ulcer in my junior year of college. I would occasionally get bloating or burping along with sharp stomach pains. Since there was no internet back then, I checked up the symptoms in a textbook, and they all pointed to acid reflux. Given the pressure I was under for my pre-med coursework and work-study, it made logical. My stomach's acid was nearly literally burning a hole through it.
