Depth of Character
The ‘Not My Shoes’ interview idea was a stroke of genius. It’s why I volunteered my time to participate in this second round of interviews. I got lucky… I only knew Lena Bean through her writing. Don’t get me wrong, her writing is poignant, thoughtful, and moving. Solely grading her humanity based on her writing already gives her high marks; but to learn about who she truly is has been a journey. I wanted to ask questions that would put her into introspection mode, to give us all a chance to see the real Lena. As a result, I’m going to share what she told me at the very end of the interview, as it gives us a great peek into who she is, and what you can expect from this interview. “Thank you for these questions,” she said, and I imagine a look of exhausted relief. “I needed them today. They helped me to feel grounded and to process things that are going on. As I said before, I know I write too much which is why I always hate my autobiographical works, so trim what and where you need.” Let me say this, Lena, I haven’t trimmed anything yet. I’m writing this pragmatically, so you can expect our readers to see most, if not all, of each of your answers. Thank you, Lena, for this chance to show you off!

Writer Spotlight: teisha leshea
What started as a journey to practice vulnerability has turned into a healing portfolio and challenging one's writing muscle. Since 2018, Teisha LeShea has shared her most vulnerable stories that challenge readers intellectually that create talking points during Thanksgiving dinner. Since a preteen, Teisha started writing her thoughts in a journal about what else? Puberty, friendships, fitting in social circles, and school crushes. It wasn't until her junior year in high school she took a leap and wrote reviews for her school newspaper. After spending her early to mid-twenties going through the many challenges of life, it wasn't until 2018 that seeing a Vocal ad on Instagram made her pick up her pen and write again. Writing has allowed Teisha to be free from doubt and insecurities. It's a form of expression that has allowed her to come into her own.

In Conversation With Author Cara Cilento
About the interviews: When I published my first book, I looked for ways to reach new readers, and being a brand new author, participating in various book bloggers interviews was a good way to start. Some interviews were standard questions, while others had more individuality built into them.

Vocal Creators F.A.Q
As a lot of you might have seen, we have a new community on Vocal for interviews. To celebrate it, I’ve come up with a template that I hope many of you will use. I know a lot of you already through the Facebook groups and I think it will be a nice way to get Vocal people to interact with each other, especially the ones that aren’t in the Facebook groups. The list of questions are inspired by questions I have seen a lot in Facebook groups and also some personal ones in the mix. I remember doing something like this for the Wattpad forums when it was still active and got a variety of responses. All the interviews I conducted have been posted on Vocal.
