A Precious Commission
May 25th, 2021 I submitted a call for commissions on a page that connects SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) sellers with buyers. I immediately received a few interested messages. As per usual, some didn't pan out, some are still in the initial bargaining phase, and one has already given the down payment.

The importance of sequins
I felt pretty useless when the pandemic started. Stuck in my tiny apartment; surrounded by sequined pants, more tulle than I could store, and extravagant outfits for my cat. I had a fabulous wardrobe (and cat) but I was broke, unemployed and had nothing to offer the world - which was crumbling all around me. What good is fashion in the face of such a crisis? I felt a bit like a nail that has been pushed-in; compressed by the heavy weight of a hammer with nowhere to go.

Zipporah
While many view it as an elderly pastime, crochet has seen a revival in the fashion industry over the last few years and has become the cornerstone of my heart. What started as an anxiety soothing activity, has now become a full-time business for me and I do not see that changing anytime soon. So, in these lines I will detail my love affair with needle and yarn, and present the project I feel represents the culmination of my 2 years of learning this craft.

Creating Custom Costumes
Creating Custom Costumes By J.L. Comes I’ll be the first one to admit that I am not extremely well versed in Costume Design; I can’t always remember the correct names of stitches, or the right terms for fabrics, and good luck trying to get me to use a sewing machine. And yet, somehow, I still love to make outfits. Don’t get me wrong, they can be a pain in the ass a lot the time. I’ve definitely cried, thrown a temper-tantrum or two, thought about giving up constructing outfits all together every now and then. But there’s just something about the beauty of that is needle and thread coming together to weave and stitch incredible garments together that keeps me coming back for more.

To Cut or Not to Cut
My passion for sewing began with a part-time job during college at a local fabric store. I was by far the youngest employee among veteran crafters and seamstresses and the store had the tradition of starting newbies with cheap scissors and then graduating to higher quality - usually a sturdy Fiskar's pair of scissors work ethic was proven and longevity rewarded. The job was hard, we had a Nordic manager who believed that the store should be straightened and look good for the next day's customers even if it meant working past 11pm. I was not a fan but learned much and acquired a stash of fabric and a love of creating something from a flat piece of cloth. When I left the job to pursue a job in my field of study, my coworkers gave me an expensive set of shears I cherish to this day.

Mocemsa Perfume Review
Not everyone recognizes the importance of wearing perfume in daily lives and the dress codes, however, there are several of us who do. From attending a wedding to meetings to interviews to dates to parties, or for that matter, even daily occasions like shopping, the perfume you adorn holds utmost importance in enhancing your attire and persona. In the same direction, I have been a big fan of perfumes by the Mocemsa brand. The brand has left no stone unturned in adding more to my visual appearance through the depth and character its perfume for women and men possess.
