Thanks For Letting Me Stay Home
I'm out of milk. It goes on the list. Add some bananas, a carton of eggs, and a few more items that I've run out of out, and I'm ready to check out. There's no waiting in line, putting my things on a conveyor belt, or running my debit card through the pay slot.

Pandemic Blues and the Server’s Plight
I won’t compare the server’s plight to slavery. They do not come close. However, just like racism, the desire from the privileged and the entitled to be serviced at the expense of others’ safety and health, is very much alive and well—and I guess one can’t help but draw parallels between the two.

Working in the Modern Mining Industry
Mining is a profession that has been around for hundreds of years. In some respects, mining has not changed all that much since the 19th century. However, there have also been innovations made that have changed the day-to-day reality of mining in some important respects. Mining work is lucrative if you can get it, but job availability has declined somewhat in recent decades. Part of the reason that it pays so well is because of the element of danger involved, which still persists despite efforts to improve the safety of the mines.

Starting something new
After finishing school and studying in university for 4 years I had to find a job. Ideally I was supposed to be looking for one during my master degree but unfortunately life does not go as planned. With the dissertation, exams and all of the assignments I could only get to apply to 3 jobs, obviously with no reply. Since I am from Cyprus and my studies were in the UK I had to come back home to apply from here for jobs, which can be hard.

Losing Your Place
I'm a millennial, so I know what being laid off is like. I have been laid off from over 80% of the jobs I have ever had. I have been laid off due to economic crisis, failed company models, startups going bust, and embezzling executives. Being laid off because of a global pandemic is a new one, but not an unexpected one. The United States' response to COVID-19 has been abysmal at best, and because there is still no federal mandate on shelter in place orders, companies have scrambled to work out their new paradigm in this world where closeness can be the death of you.

Grifting - Modernized
The modern grifter has a new face. They play video games, create playlists of funnies found online and do unboxings of various types. Once they get enough followers, they are able to make money on free to view videos via monetization. While there are many who use monetization of podcasts, articles, videos and other media on different platforms can be used to support creative artists of various types, there is a stark difference from these artists and the grifters.
