Did I have a crush to give me a sense of control over my life?
It always starts like this: You see him a couple of times without genuinely seeing him. And then, it is as though he comes more often than usual. When he looks at you or talks to you, it feels as though your throat doesn't allow you to speak; a fire has started within your guts and if you talk to him…. Words seem to just fall out of your mouth, forming nonsensical sentenc-es. You begin to adjust in your seat, wiggling around your feet, suddenly not knowing what to do with your limbs…. And one day, you look in the mirror and finally ask yourself: Do you seriously have a crush on him?

Rotten Reviews from Rotten Writers. Top Story - August 2022.
I started my blog, The Writer’s Scrap Bin, to provide support to fellow writers, whether they are aspiring or well established, and build a community of writers that build each other up, not tear each other down. I’ve just never understood why we can’t help each other. We all have our own genres, styles, and niches, so why can’t we share readers and rejoice in each other’s success? Unfortunately, not all writers think that way, and not just in modern times. We’ve been jerks to each other for quite a while. The proof is in Pushcart’s Complete Rotten Reviews & Rejections.

Caught Between Destiny and Discretion
Throughout history, mankind has pondered this question: Do we decide what to do with our lives? Are things predestined or are they the result of our choices? Authors have explored this concept in stories about fate and free will. In simple terms, Fate is the outcome of an event that is beyond the control of the individual. It is the development of events that are determined by the Gods and Goddesses. As for Free-Will, it refers to the ability to act without limitations. Free-Will is the autonomy to act as one pleases.

The need to confess...
One of the most aggravating aspects of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), is the compulsion to confess. I might imagine that I have said or done something to offend a friend, or a stranger. I might imagine that I have broken the law, or forgotten to turn off my oven before leaving the house, or any of a hundred and one different scenarios my mind can conjure up. All tailor-made to drive me to distraction.

The Dead Colon
So, it is my tradition: nigh on 13 years now. Nothing else can be gleaned from this if that isn’t made clear. It is my tradition that I read Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol every Christmas, but this year I read it differently; this year I studied it; this year gave birth to questions.

Quotes About Writing
I could stay up all night reading quotes from Goodreads (or other sources) by writers about writing...why they write, how they write, the 'agony and the ecstasy' of being compelled to put experiences, people, events, anything and everything, into print for all the world to read. Oh, wait, I just did!
