Adjusting to 'real life' and being messed around by head office
After my 2nd very mixed contract on the Sun as was the standard I felt completely burnt out and had no idea of when, where or if I was coming back for a third contract. Many crew members liken the countdown to the end of a contract like inmates counting the days down till release, yet the irony is within a few weeks of getting home you are already counting the days till your next sentence!

Tourism marketing: A consumer-oriented approach
According to Inskeep, tourism marketing is defined as: "…the continuing research to adapt the tourism product on the market to which it is targeted". However, in addition to this definition, the special nature of the tourism product requires that it can only be consumed at the place where it is produced.

The Great Barrier Reef
We were into the home stretch on the world cruise and I was like a prisoner counting his days till release, my cabin situation had been sorted and I had blagged my own cabin till the end of my conttract and I was staying far away from most of the photo team drama that seemed to continue on a daily basis.

Hawaii & The Dark Knight
We had a breathaking run through Hawaii on our world cruise hitting ports in Maui, Honolulu & Hilo, and if I'm honest I really couldn't tell them apart except for my day in Honolulu. I was in over the halfway point of the contract and pretty burned out at this point and all I initially remembered from Hawaii was lots of bus rides upto Volcano craters.

Off She Blows...
OFF SHE BLOWS - THE WRITING IS HAPPENING... ...the currents flowing. She is observing it... I am observing it. What resistance is in my life? What does it mean and feel like to resist - where does resistance manifest - and why? What is the action behind my purpose - does purpose have everything to do with resistance? Purpose and resistance, intertwined and dancing like some interesting work of tie-dye art blowing in the wind. What alleviates these currents, allowing them to flow heavily and naturally rush out, like a river at high tide? And what prevents the flow? Are you building walls and dumping sand into the river, eventually constricting the water flow or blocking it entirely?

The Legend of Classy Boner
It was all the Canadians fault really! After an epic Canada Day party in the crew bar the American crew were feeling a little competitive with the 4th July party coming up days later, and as a lot of the musicians and entertainment staff onboard were American it seemed only right they put on a gig in the crew which led to my first band night on ships!

The Nagsaki Hangover:Turning 30 onboard!
I had my 30th birthday onboard the Sun and unlike the Coral I had been there for more than a few weeks at this point and also unlike the Coral I didn't get called to see the HGM and get a verbal warning the next day either. If I'm honest I can't remember much of the day of my birthday but I think it might have been a formal night which as we've established is a big night for the photo department. Which would usually mean filming a Champagne Waterfall, A Captains Speech or some kind of atrium party, because we were mid world cruise there was nothing special we were filming that night.
