A false friend is a great danger.

Motivational Story

Once upon a time, in a jungle, lived a crow and a deer. The crow had built its nest on the branch of a champak tree. And the deer lived under the same tree. The crow and the deer had been friends for a long time. Every morning, the crow would fly away to look for food. And the deer would roam freely in the forest, eating grass and leaves. Eating grass and leaves, the deer had grown quite plump.

One day, a jackal's eyes fell upon the deer. Seeing the deer, the jackal became very greedy. It thought, "I must eat its tender meat." But how to do it? It devised a plan: first, it would befriend the deer. That way, it could stay close to it.

Thinking this, it went to the deer and said, "Hello, friend, how are you?" The deer said, "Who are you, brother? I don't recognize you." The jackal said, "I am a jackal. I live in this forest, but I have no friends. Can one live without a friend? That's why I thought of befriending you. Do you have any objection? From now on, you and I will roam together."

The deer said, "Alright, it shall be so." Then, in the evening, the deer and the jackal went to meet the crow. The crow said to the deer, "Who has come with you?" The deer said, "He is a jackal, he has befriended me." The crow said, "One should not make friends with strangers so quickly."

The jackal became very angry at the crow's words. But suppressing its anger, it said to the crow in a sweet voice, "Shame on you, brother, is that the right thing to say? The day the deer first saw you, you were also a stranger to it. Now I see that you two are very close. So what fault did I commit, tell me?"

The deer said, "Alright, alright. What's the need for so much arguing? We are all friends to each other. No one is anyone's enemy." The crow said, "Alright then, let it be so."

After this, one day the jackal called the deer and said, "Friend, I have seen a place in this forest where there are fields full of crops. Come, I will show you the place."

The jackal showed the deer the place. The deer started going to that field every day to eat the crops. One day, the owner of the field noticed this. He set a trap to catch the deer. The deer fell into the trap. The deer thought that its friend would save it from this danger. On the other hand, the jackal thought, "Finally! After so long, my wish will be fulfilled. When the owner cuts the deer, I will surely get its blood-soaked bones and flesh." The deer called out to the jackal, "Friend, save me quickly! Cut my bonds." The jackal said, "Alas, friend, the bonds of the net are made of animal intestines. Today is Sunday. I don't bite meat with my teeth on Sundays. I will cut them tomorrow morning, okay? Don't worry at all." Saying this, it went and hid nearby.

Meanwhile, evening fell. The deer had not yet returned home. The crow went out to look for it. Searching and searching, when it found the deer, it said, "Where did that deceitful jackal go?" The deer said, "I have now understood, it is hiding somewhere nearby to eat my flesh." The crow said, "I told you before. One should never trust those who harm in secret but speak sweetly in front."

Meanwhile, as soon as morning came, the owner of the field came with a stick to beat the deer. The crow said to the deer, "You lie down like a dead body, with your belly puffed up and your legs stretched out. As soon as I caw, you run away." Seeing the deer, the owner of the field said, "Oh, look! It has already died." Saying this, he untied the deer's bonds. Taking the opportunity, the crow started cawing. Hearing the crow's caw, the deer jumped up and ran away. The owner of the field threw the stick very hard to hit it. The stick hit the jackal. The jackal died from the blow of the stick.

That's why it is said, "Greed leads to sin, and sin leads to death."
