So for the past three years or so I have been hiding, burying my head in the sand for numerous reasons.I have allowed people to walk all over me,violate my rights and basically let myself believe that I wasn't good enough and that I had no voice. My boundaries have been crossed so many times as a result relationships soured. All this happened because my character was attacked by someone I thought would always have my back no matter what.
I made the grave mistake of turning visits into permanent stays, associates into friends and mistaking a mere greet-and-pass situation into a long-term relationship. As a result of this,in a very short span of time I have accumulated a countless number of enemies and have no social circle.I admit to exercising poor judgement, and being down right toxic in some instances.Yes,I wasn't entirely innocent in all this ,could have made better choices ,followed my head rather than my heart as well as stayed true to the woman I was raised to become.Instead of derailing from my course.
I admit and do take accountability for the role I played in the relationships that have soured, the opportunities that I missed because of my folly and everything else that comes with making mistakes .
The lessons I took from this journey are too many to mention but if I were to pick a few it would be that my past is part of my story and not who I am.If I remain in the mistakes I made over the past years then I do not grow.I can sit and write about my painful upbringing ,the hardships I have had to endure and how the abuse I suffered obscured my view on relationships and true love.My past only tells where I have been but not necessarily where I want to go.
I choose to not be a victim of circumstance that's why I won't bore you with the details of my past rejections, failures and bad choices.I would rather share the hopes and dreams of a young girl born and raised in a rural area located at the tip of the African continent,a girl whose dreams are valid, whose voice may have been muffled because of the magnitude of the message it carries ,whose heart sings a melody that echos over the the hills and valleys in faraway land.
