humanity
Isn't it ironic that the very best of humanity is seen through the love and empathy we show to our pets?
My Cat, My Best Friend

Sarge My Beautiful Boy
I saw this challenge days ago and my instinct was to shut my laptop, let the sadness fester for weeks, and return to it, at a later date. Well, the later date is now and I have two hours to deadline. Stevie. Runner-Up in 24/7 Companion Challenge.
Stevie is dead. I found her on the floor of my last rental, lifeless, after helping my neighbors with a task. I wasn't gone for more than ten minutes, but it was enough time for her to succumb to whatever silent illness was plaguing her.
