Sporty Snacks for Scaly Sidekicks
I'm a desert girl at heart, and so is my mom. She loves snakes, especially the big bull snakes that like to sun themselves in the middle of the road. While the hot asphalt is great for warming their bellies, and the lack of shade means they get plenty of sun, it also puts them at risk for being squashed by a car. My mom would always stop the car and get out to move the snakes she saw in the road, handling them with gentle, friendly confidence.

The Horrors of Commercial Pet Food: What Every Dog and Cat Owner Should Know
What’s more, many of these will not appear on the label and others are hidden under umbrella terms such as ‘meat meal’ and ‘meat by-products’. How can this happen? The pet food industry is highly unregulated. As Ann Martin, author of Foods Pets Die For, writes in her article The Pet Food Industry and its Questionable Practices, ‘Governments in the USA and Canada regulate the labeling of the food, the name and address of the company, the weight of the product, and whether it is made for a dog or cat - nothing more.’

What to Feed Your Large Breed Puppy
Less is More for Your Big Pup A major difference between large breed puppy food and regular pup food is the amount of calories. Big fur babies grow much more slowly than smaller sizes and it takes them anywhere from 1.5 to 2 years to reach their full size. If they are fed too many calories, it could cause rapid growth that will be damaging to their skeletal structure and cause dysplasia.

The Cat Food Wars are Over
When JJ, my $3,000 street rescue, took me hostage in 2005 she was possibly six months old and pregnant. After she had her litter of five, I began feeding her tiny cans of Fancy Feast because those hungry little fiends were sucking the calories out of her as fast as she could inhale them. If either my partner or I moved in the general direction of the kitchen, a gray blur would whip past us and if we actually went into the kitchen we would find Miss JJ on the counter on her hind legs with her front paws on the cupboard door.

How To Take Care Of Your Dog When It’s Hot?
Man’s best friend has always been there for us, and we need to always be there for them too. Our dogs rely on us solely for all their nutrition, exercise, social and bonding needs. And while they may only be around for a short part of our lives, to them, we are 100% of their lives. When taking care of our pups while traveling together around the world, managing their comfort by keeping the temperature down during hotter weather should be high on your priority list.
