A Loss for Words

A Writer's Lament

Why is writing so darned tedious?

Are my words too meticulous?

I agonize about each one

Until it's no more fun.

I work the stories

Diligently

and yet, I've

Nothing

Done

This is a nonet. As you see, it starts with nine syllables and decreases to one. This is a form introduced to me by fellow Vocal writer, Mike Singleton. Thanks, Mike!

Wonderful nonet and I cannot believe that you found writing it tedious. I have done a lot of tedious writing but none of it poetic. I know what you mean about some writing being tedious though... This was very well crafted

  • This is a great one!

Awesome poem. All writers felt this way before.

  • Lol, this sure was relatable. Loved your Nonet!

I honestly thought Nonets were nine words to start, not syllables. Lucky I read this. Oh, I see, your third line. But yes, writing gets frustrating sometimes...it takes a vacation 🤗❤️

Well done! Thanks for the reminder on what form that was. I was scratching my head as I noticed the pattern.
