Our Moon Escort

Poem

Are we all right as

long as the moon hangs above

glowing grace on us?

Is everything fine in

the world, will smiles shine

from our faces in

the midst of chaos as long

as brilliant Luna gleams there

orbiting above?

I looked at the moon growing larger and then rising orange, almost full, low in the sky and the thoughts of the poem came to me. Is it our constant, the one thing we know will be with us?

Great question and poem. The moon is a constant...though when, not whether that changes, who knows!

Moon watch is such a blessed event, we see the wonder of creation suspended above as if magically there to bless our night's sleep. Glad you had fun watching and creating.

  • I missed it last night as I went to bed early but I did hear lots of people talk about what a bad day it was. Effects some more than others😉

Jolly on the spot and simply beautiful of the moon. Seen in a new light.

I've always hoped so. Lovely photo and poem, Andrea!

  • Well-wrought and nice pic! Many of those old pulp sci-fi writers (Robert Heinlein in particular) thought we would have colonized the moon long before now! But look how we treat the earth, eh? Probably best for Lady Luna that we lag!

As much as the moon hangs above, allowing our smiles to shine right in the world, I guess we are all happy. Your poem very beautiful Andrea.

Ancients worshiped the moon as well as the sun for some of the reasons you've stated. It is inspiring.

  • The Moon's growing closer here in this part of the world! There was once it hung so low it was frightening for all the reasons you stated. Nice work, Andrea.

Fun fact: the Moon is moving away from the Earth by a few centimeters a year. It won’t affect us, of course, as it will take billions of years for it to separate from the Earth completely. And even before that, the Sun will probably turn into the red giant star and fry all planets of the solar system. Even with all this, loved your poem, Angela, as given the scale of the planets and our life span, the Moon is definitely a constant in our lives.
