Scuttle

Countless thoughts

I’ve had before

Landlocked by

Frigid prairies

Musing on

Ocean power

Reveling in

Metaphors and analogies

Now, here I sit

At water’s edge

Mindless, thoughtless

Narration absent

Constant stream

Of chattering noise

Stilled, calm

Copper caustics

Undulate across

Porphyry ribbons

Nightly performance

Ramping up, a

Manta ray

Leaping skyward

For food or

Maybe just

Joyful

I am alone

Though under

The watchful eye

Of tias and abuelas

Who comment on

Studious efforts

Constantly reading

Desperate to

Catch up

So I can breathe

I forgot how

(To breathe)

Luckily, Ocean is

An excellent

Teacher

When crimson is

A trite word

And sunsets

Become banal

That is when

World ends

Until then

I will squeal

Hop and dash

Away from

Tiny crustaceans

Giving me the

Side eye

Scuttling across

Glass granules

Most assuredly

I am in

The fucking

Way of

Serious crab

Business

There is a calming effect that comes from the sounds of the ocean that is unlike anything else. Lovely poem.

Ocean reminded me of something I saw on Facebook: "I'm a sea of emotion. I'm an emocean" Or something along those lines. But it was so brilliant! Just like your poem!
