it's warmer tonight
as I sit outside
in the dark
I look up and
the stars are twinkling
in an obsidian sky
a light breeze reminds me
that the earth is alive
breathing
singing
cradling
life
I'm still amazed that
there are so
many more stars
than I could possibly see
right above me
studding the blackness
with countless
points of light
that hear me
and see me
they know my secrets
tucked away in stardust
to keep them safe
my hopes and dreams
float slowly up on the breeze
toward the heavens until
I lose sight of them
maybe they'll float back down
and maybe they won't
and it's OK
because I've got these stars to talk to
and it's warmer tonight.
βThe heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, And their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun." Yes, imagine how many more stars there are that we cannot see. It's mindblowing! Loved your poem!
