Over The Moon
Welcome to my series if it's your first time, welcome back to my series if it's not your first time! The story so far... This series gives LGBTQIA+ people's perspectives on Tarot cards. Tarot is a set of symbols added on to playing cards, depicting a spiritual journey, used for meditation or fortune telling. The version that's thought of as the basic traditional Tarot, from which the myriad of decks are influenced and inspired, was drawn by mixed race bisexual lady Pamela "Pixie" Colman Smith, whose insights I'm sure made it into this art commission given her by straight white men. So I asked LGBTQIA+ Tarot users online to give me their viewpoints on the cards, and the result is this series!

Why is the LGBTQ Hated?
Background of the LGBTQ Almost every kind of civilization throughout history, except a few, has always looked at those who are LGBTQ with contempt, suspicion, and hate. These very sentiments, among most human groups, have been felt most strongly by religions, especially the Abrahamic religions. One of these religions, known as Islam, will punish those who are LGBTQ by stoning them, hanging them, or throwing them off high buildings to kill them.

I don’t read a ton of biographies but once in a while, I’ll take a chance, especially if it’s somebody in the natural history field. And, thus, for Pride Month, I have embarked on, “The Invention of Nature: Alexander von Humboldt’s New World” by Andrea Wulf. The outgoing Prussian explorer sounded like an interesting guy who did a lot of interesting things — and, from the start, his adventures exceeded all my expectations.
