'90s Comfort and a Touch of Fantasy
Fashion. That’s quite a word in my family. My grandmother always looked like she stepped off the cover of Vogue magazine, even the time we took a tour of an historic prison and went underground into the copper mine where the prisoners worked. She wore high heels and somehow managed to walk through the place at least as well as I did in sneakers.

A Prayer for Flares
Flares, was there anything else with more flair? Tapered tight at the waist then billowing out at the knees into conical hems. They hug the thighs and release at the ankles, complimenting your body then freeing it. You could fit a pair of combat boots under them and no one would know. In this era of skinny jeans, when a pair of flares walks past, I am always in awe of how the wearer pulls them off with such an air of grace. They don’t strut, they sashay, the back of the ankle hem glancing their shoe before floating back at the next step. Flares are basically two denim dresses acting as a pair of pants and so force a walk that is straight-backed, graceful yet confident.

How Cartoons and Country Music Had Me Wearing Bell Bottom Jeans
I don’t consider myself a fashionista. But that doesn’t mean I don’t pay attention. I know what I like, and what I really like is starting to make a glorious comeback. They challenged societal norms, graced the disco floors and marched against the Vietnam War. They clothed the celebrities of the '70s and inspired the pop stars of the '90s. They came and went over the decades, but like the singular memories of our youth they never faded away. All they needed was a nudge, a sound, a small reminder and suddenly the past came roaring back.

The Perks of Being a Vintage Flower
You might be thinking, "Marcel, what on earth is a vintage flower?" Fair enough. A vintage flower refers to a person whose fashion style is characterized by choosing what they wear through the prism of being unapologetically themselves. Someone who puts their spin on vintage outfits, making them unique.

Oh Harem Pants, Where Art Thou?
Call me old fashion, call me "hippy-ish" or call me homely, but when I tell you the feeling of confidence, comfort and sweet "swagg" that overcomes me when wearing a good old fashioned pair of harem pants is more valuable than anyone's opinion about them. I have always been a comfort girl, but I also like to feel feminine and pretty. In my opinion, these are some of the most girly, stylish and cool pants that have ever existed.

Bring on the 90's
Skinny jeans are apparently out now. We’re headed back to the 90’s with baggy jeans, crop tops, and oversize tees. I wore all of this when I was a teenager. I was especially not a fan of tight jeans when I was younger. Although, I did wear them.

A preponderance of plaid
My parents dressed me in plaid polyester from about the time that I could walk until about the time the flame-retardant pajama laws went into effect – about seven years later. If you were to see early pictures of me, you might be forgiven if you mistook me for a child whose parents when yachting on weekends or played lawn tennis in the early morning. You could be excused if you thought I might be the child of some Scottish or Irish immigrants given the preponderance of plaid in my day-to-day ensembles. I had plaid polyester slacks, leisure suits, and bucket hats. You might have guessed that, from the looks of things, one of my parents must be Herb Tarlek from WKRP in Cincinnati.
