Amidst news of the mosque bombing in terror-struck Egypt, there remains an ongoing undercurrent of injustice. Set against a backdrop of what seems like a gradually emerging utopia of support for the LGBTQQIAAP community in the West, Egypt's own tattered rainbow flag has become drastically bleak. Pictured above is the scene of a fan waving a pride flag at a Mashrou' Laila concert in Cairo — a sight which also provoked the state to launch a torrent of torture at the LGBTQ+ people, giving new meaning to the term 'repression."

1 Year Later Keystone Has A Pipeline Leak
A year ago, there were massive protests around the issue of building the Keystone pipeline. The key reason for major opposition to the Keystone pipeline is due to harmful environmental damage; if a pipeline leak were to occur there would be contamination of the environment. Native Americans and environmentalist were treated inhumanely protesting the Keystone pipeline, they were hosed with cold water at sub-freezing temperatures, rubber bullets were shot at them and law enforcement viciously tore down their camps. News of the Keystone pipeline leak is shattering because our government failed to listen to the people, they are the cause of the inhumane treatment protestors received. As a result, citizens of South Dakota and the environment will suffer. Moreover, Nebraska approving the extended Keystone XL pipeline illustrates the ignorance of local elected officials ignoring the issue of climate change and steadily pursuing a terrible policy harmful to the environment.

The U.S. and Guns
Unfortunately, one of the biggest problems the United States faces at the moment is the plague of gun violence around the country. According to the CDC, approximately 34,000 people die each year in the U.S. because of firearms. That is a big number when you compare it to the other well developed countries around the world. The United States is the country with the most guns in the world. The U.S. constitution allows its citizens to purchase and own guns, however each state has the right to elaborate around these laws, either making it easier or harder to purchase a gun. There is a positive correlation between the states with the highest gun related deaths and the ease of access to guns in those states.

Angry villagers, long unmanageable hair, and a house full of women that are objects — anyone would be forgiven for thinking that the upcoming live-action reimagining of #BeautyAndTheBeast is actually a meta take on the tale of Donald and Melania's road to the White House.
