Being a Woman in 2017. Top Story - September 2017.
Women have come a long way from what we were associated with many years ago. However, some people still believe that we should still be associated with the times of the past. This may be because it is what they have learned and what they have believed in, but it might also be that they don't want to change from the past.

Waiting Rooms & Pregnancy Tests
I remember sitting in the waiting room of my OB/GBN's office to have an ultrasound. Babies, children, and their respective mothers swarming about as if they were in a club only they belonged to. Women with swelling and swollen stomaches smiling expectantly with the knowledge they were walking announcements of new life. They were young, old, and middle-aged women, and most importantly mothers. Here I was waiting to have an ultrasound to find out why my body would not perform like a woman's body should. Why my body would not allow me to join their happy, little club that included nursery rhymes, sticky kisses, and glowing happiness.

My Guardian Angel
The worst thing for many young adults is seeing those close to their heart age. Realizing that they may no longer be in your life as you grow up is something that is unbelievably hard to come to terms with. When you think of life without them, it makes you think about things like how they'll never see you graduate, come to your wedding, attend your first football game of the season, etc. Whatever it may be, losing someone who is everything you need in life to feel wholesome, is something that will never get easy...especially knowing that you have your whole life ahead of you and they can't be a part of it anymore. For me, it feels as if I am a puzzle, only that there are pieces missing to complete me. Here and there you'll feel the missing piece, and wish you could have the puzzle completed just once more.

Don’t Mistake My Confidence for Self-Absorption
Women suffer, silently. Before we’re even taught basic arithmetic, the idea that we need to count calories to maintain our worth as humans is wedged into our core beliefs. We’re taught to receive the world as passive observers, to keep our voices low and our bodies invisible. To be seen and not heard. Can you hear me now? We fold ourselves up like paper cranes in public. We shrink ourselves, we stunt our own growth in hopes that we’ll one day be as inconspicuous as a blade of grass. Light and ethereal, gentle as a plume of smoke from a candle. We’re barely there. A real woman is effortlessly beautiful and brilliant and kind, but don’t you dare talk about your successes you narcissistic bitch, didn’t anyone ever teach you to be humble?

The Loss of a Pet
Penny was her name and she was the sweetest puppy that you could ever meet. A mini dapple dachshund, a gorgeous spotted puppy that even had spots inside her eyes. We brought her home from the breeder and it was love at first sight, especially for my 11-year-old. They bonded instantly and what was originally my dog quickly became hers. They spent time together, they slept together, and she was the first thing my daughter grabbed when she woke up in the morning. I would find the two of them watching cartoons cuddled up on the couch. It was truly a sight to see.

Omar's Diary 22nd September 2017
My goodness. How time has passed by since I introduced myself nearly a month ago. Man Servant, without any consultation with myself, has now acquired a new car which is now parked outside Omar Towers. It is not ‘new’ in the sense of coming straight from the factory but ‘new’ to him and he is very proud of it. From what I can see from my vantage point on the drawing room windowsill, it is a red cabriolet model of foreign design. As our end-of-summer weather has been so mild lately, he has been able to enjoy the full experience of driving with the roof down. I am not so sure that Lady Servant shares his enthusiasm for this style of motoring. Why, even this evening as they were both going out to get some Kibble for us felines, I distinctly heard Lady Servant tell him she was not going out unless the roof was up. From his point of view, it was a dry and sunny evening. From her point of view, it was getting dark and chilly. Her expression of disfavor won the argument, and they drove off with the roof up.
