We talk pucks and objects of that kind. We yell, complain, and analyze in the language of hockey fandom. Gretzky can do no wrong.

The Greats Make it Look Easy
For the Colorado Avalanche, the four-game homestand was done. We won three of the four games, and now, it's time to travel. After two days off, the Avs landed in Philadelphia to face off against the Flyers, with both teams entering the meeting with .500 records. For the Avs, this is our second game since a lot of our key players returned to action.

Molly Gallagher Wall isn’t Enough to Beat Lakeland Again
Please see tip, pleedge and subscribe buttons Two weeks ago, John Jay traveled to Lakeland to possibly face another loss against the 15 time defending Section One Champs. Instead, Molly Gallagher put up 19 saves, and the Wolves earned their first ever victory versus the Hornets. So with the rematch on Saturday October 5, Gallagher gave Lakeland fits again. But this time there was a blemish, and one was all it took.

Reinforcements
It was a happy day for fans of the Colorado Avalanche. The team won all three games in this homestand at this point, and it was finally happening: the key players are coming back. Miles Wood had been sidelined for a bit, but he was coming back. A bigger one was Jonathan Drouin, he had been out for pretty much the whole season. Drouin was part of our top line with Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, and he had quite the first season with the Avs last year. Him being back is a huge boost.

Moose Tracks
The Colorado Avalanche's four-game homestand reached the halfway point, and so far, so good. The Avs are coming off a very awesome overtime win over the Nashville Predators on Veterans Day, and now, we were on TNT and still at home against the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings are on quite a good start this season, they've been straddling the first place fence for a good bit, and they've had quite a good start to this season.

Breaking Away
The Colorado Avalanche's form has returned in grand fashion, as the team is coming off a huge win over the Carolina Hurricanes--a win that saw the Avs score five goals in the second period. The Avs are maneuvering victories; something we saw a lot in the last three years with this team, and we took that to our second game of this four-game homestand. In this go-around, it was a Division Rivalry meeting against the Nashville Predators--the second meeting between the two clubs in less than two weeks. The first meeting did not go so well for the Avs, who looked to rectify that in this second go-around.

Storm Hunters
After a tough 1-0 loss in Winnipeg, the Colorado Avalanche returned home to Ball Arena, where we would spent the next week. It's an interesting schedule we have in the month of November. After going back and forth between home and the road, the Avs have a four game homestand, followed by a four game road trip. The homestand began with Game 15 of our season, and it's our first of two meetings against our WHA brethren, the Carolina Hurricanes. And yes, that fact is true. The Hurricanes used to be the Hartford Whalers, and we used to be the Quebec Nordiques. Both teams started in the WHA in 1972, moved to the NHL in 1979, were foes in the old Adams Division, had hard luck years, relocated, and won Stanley Cups.

Helle in a Handbasket
Remember last year's playoffs? Remember when the Colorado Avalanche had to start the playoffs on the road against a Winnipeg Jets team who owned us in the regular season? And in spite of that, the Avs dismantled the Jets at every turn? Even the Game One loss saw the Avs score six goals. The Avs won in five games and all of them in dominant goal-scoring fashion.

The Bright Side
Despite a 0-4 start to the season, the Colorado Avalanche ended up with a borderline respectable record once October ended: 5-6-0. Not bad at all, considering that a lot of our players were out. This is why the respect is there. We've been playing with newbies and punk kids for the near most part, yet we're only a solid game under .500 after the first month of the season. That's pretty good.

Shenanigans
On the same day that Game Five of the World Series took place, the Colorado Avalanche were in action. The Avs were coming off the end of our five game winning streak, and entering Game 11, we received some very damning news: Ross Colton would be out for 6-8 weeks. The man who had been making heads turn with his many goals already is now out for several weeks. This already adds to the who's who on the injured list, and of course, Val Nichushkin's suspension. We really are the San Francisco 49ers of the NHL, are we?

John Jay Scores 100th Victory for Coach Debbi Walsh
See tip, pledge and subscribe buttons After losing a tough 1-0 game to Lakeland on Saturday October 6, John Jay was back on Contest Field on Monday, and the Wolves took no time to sulk, according to Coach Debbi Walsh. “It was nice to watch the girls continue to play at an elevated level against Hen Hud,” she said after the 7-0 victory. But there was more at stake for the girls than just bouncing back.
