How To Appreciate The Natural World
How does one appreciate the natural world? Appreciating the natural world means noticing it, combining with it, and then relaxing into it. Noticing the inherent beauty of nature is the first step. It’s good to pay attention to the small details and textures of plants, animals, the sky, etc.

Cow Shit!
We got up early in the morning, excited to be going to Great Yarmouth for our holiday. We were singing in the car with the windows down, happily driving down the country lanes and taking in every sight of the country. We hadn't had a holiday for a while due to illness, so we were relieved to be finally getting away (that was when my husband finally found his car keys...which took him a whole hour, after complaining that I had spent ten minutes looking for my purse!).

Candace Clicks with Twins. Top Story - June 2021.
I have wished, at times, that I had been born twins. That way, the part of me that appreciates the conveniences of city living could reside in comfort, while the part of me that strongly prefers rural life could enjoy communing with nature. However, as twins, I would be two individuals, not one. Living apart from my hypothetical twin would separate me from my best friend. Neither of us would derive pleasure from the other's experiences in the other place. After pondering this, I concluded that having a twin wouldn't solve my conundrum of wanting to be in two places at the same time.

Hawa Mahal, More Than Just a Breezy Affair
Jaipur’s exquisite Hawa Mahal, the 18th-century Palace of Winds is a rose-tinted example of the Pink City’s architectural splendour. However, as popular a visual the lattice windowed façade might be, there is still much about this 87-ft tall monument that many don’t know. (Photo Source: Wikimedia Commons, Ronakshah 1990)

Nature
Nature Where do I go when I want to lose control? Where do I breathe when all fails me? Nature is my best friend, though we disagree there is safety in nature. When I hike in the hills or mountains, when I swim in the river or lakes I am at peace. If I sit on a beach or near trees my mind is at ease. My only problem is my body can't keep up. I've fell in quicksand, tumbled down hills, was stuck between rocks, almost drowned in a current, fell into frozen water, and the list goes on.

Hiking meditation
Stepping away from your life of responsibility can be so challenging. Hearing the phone ring at the office and answering it to deal with other people’s problems, seeing your child upset about school issues, your spouse downloading their day of stress, and on and on; it weighs heavy. Your senses are constantly being taxed by the grind of everyday life, and it can be overwhelming and sometimes hard to drown out. Until you the smell of the morning dew on the trees, feel the breeze of the day blowing on your skin and the sight of the sun rising over horizon. Hiking can help restart all of your senses and bring you back to the center inside yourself.
