Author's Notes: Puss's Boots
Puss's Boots. This story is over ten years old, over 475 years old, and over thirty years old. As a child, I fell in love with a picture book of Puss-in-Boots; I loved the simple, colourful, elegant faux-Medieval art designs even more than the story. Years later, I studied history thrive fashion, and this one book still lives with me. I wrote this story three times; it was my first original fairytale, and my first original queer story.

Author's Notes: Little Snow-White
"Snow-White, Rose-Red, will you beat your lover dead?" "But Little Snow-White is still a thousand times fairer than you." Two women white as either snow or roses, two sisters that loved and stood together rather than attack each other, and a princess whose "dead body" was nearly sold and then given to a strange prince. These stories begged to be put together in a way that offered the romantic love of a fairytale as well as the familial love that is so often missing from them.

I like reading, 📚 I like writing, ✍🏾 I like sharing, I like exploring, and I like art. All the above, connect you to something. If I create by writing, I will want to share. Writing is an art, and a preserver of history, culture, and values. While art allows me to explore. Craft is a generic term for all kinds of art. It is not selfless but desires to share. It looks for a problem to solve, and solutions to adapt. When I think of catharsis, it is a temporary state, fleeting, might be exciting, and less involving. It sounds lazy, laid-back, and a bit selfish.

DEBORAH
There is an opera in town and the songs sung tell of a man who met a woman at a well. Looking at her wardrobe, she realizes she must recreate the look she imagined for the event. This grand occasion called for glitz and glam, gowns and heels. Only her choices were limited and lacking the fashion this opera required. As any woman would, she refused to let anything stand in the way of her childhood dream day. She reached into the back of her closet after pulling everything down from it. There it was, her Leopard print dress! Deborah grabs the dress and runs to her dressing room to jump into it. By this time it feels like she is in an inferno. Could it be the spanks she had on restricting her breath, movement and ventilation? I’m sure she thinks to herself, but who has time to concentrate on that. Beauty Calls! After doing her hair and makeup, then putting on her dress, Deborah steps back to look into the mirror. The dress fits perfectly as if she had tattooed it on herself. Very good, she says, and off she goes. The image before her in the mirror was one that was cultivated in the presence of God, even though the scars remained. Her outward appearance now matched her inner esteem through God’s redemptive power working through her life. Chin up! What’s meant to keep you looking down cannot overpower the God-given confidence that has been born on the inside of you. Deborah recalls these things to mind. Finally, embracing her identity as the apple of God’s eye, and that’s more than enough.

Should We Not Try to Get Too Political?. Top Story - February 2026.
Here's something you often hear people say, "I try not to get too political." I understand the sentiment and I sympathize with it... while at the same exact time, I completely disagree with the notion. Whether it's referring to social media or wherever, it's kind of unavoidable. You can attempt to sidestep it, not engage, leave the less important things for actual politicians to discuss... you can want it to not take over your life, your conversations, your relationships, and that makes perfect sense.
