3500?
Introduction It's now fifteen days since I could post on my main account here. As I said in my last post on the situation, I do not want to be writing these pieces, but it is the only way I can let people know what is happening. However, most of my regular readers think I have stopped writing or have done something wrong. It's never Vocal's fault, is it?

Rocks Rock
I’ve been thinking about rocks a lot lately, collecting different specimens of minerals and gems, arranging them in groups. I have favorites: lapis lazuli, moss agate, amethyst, bloodstone, and aquamarine to name a few. Like most English majors, I took the least mathy lab science sequence available to me—geology.

One Character In A Fiction Story
Anne Bernays and Pamela Painter — What if? Writing Exercises for Fiction Writers prompts — The Exercise — Write a story whose forward movement is propelled by: a character's belief in something: a tale such as in Alice Hoffman's White Horses, a religion, astrology, the I Ching, a friend's lie, or winning the lottery Allow something imagined to fire your character's imagination and provide the fuel to cause that character to act and move the story toward some conclusion. The Objective - To respect the minds and imaginations of your characters. To see how a character's imagination can transcend the confines of a limited point of view - as in Hotel New Hampshire and Zuckerman Unbound. To allow characters to experience the full range of thought of which we all are capable.

This Was My Best Fucking Piece (And It Still Lost)
There’s a particular kind of heartbreak that only writers know— the moment you hit “submit,” whisper a shaky prayer to the literary gods, and then, days or weeks later, open an email that starts with the word “Unfortunately.”

I Googled My Pen Name And Book Title
It was a Google driven by utter frustration. Why was I frustrated- and how did that lead to a Google of myself? My audiobook. It passed Quality control. It was approved on https://voices.inaudio.com. It has been distributed to 31 platforms. I had announced my release date as December 17th. I wanted to put it on pre-order. Completely forgot it can take up to 30 days or more before your stuff is actually published on these platforms.

Imran Khan: The Man Who Refused to Bow
The story opens with a 70-year-old man sitting behind the walls of a prison. His name is Imran Khan. His “crime,” in the eyes of his opponents, is that he gave the youth of Pakistan a voice and a sense of purpose. Many had already written his political obituary, but those who knew him understood he was not someone who gave up easily. He was offered two choices: apologise and walk free, or stay behind bars. He chose to stand firm against the people he believed had looted his country.

Poetry: My Second Love
With as much poetry as I have published on Vocal lately, one might think that I am poet first and a fiction writer second. I have received many compliments on my poetry, even on some of my older poetry that I have posted to show how far I have come (for an example, see my poem “The Museum of Freedom”). Some people have even suggested that I publish a book of poetry (here’s looking at you, Paul and Donna), and I am seriously considering it.
