A Method to Make Your Writing Unique
“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” ― Stephen King Reading just as much as you write, if not a lot more, is essential to your growth as a writer. It doesn’t matter what kind of writer you are; playwrights need to practice as much as poets and web content writers.

Details Can Make Your Characters Even Better
When most artists design characters, they tend to design each character individually. That is, while they may pick a theme for specific sets of characters, in general, each character is designed by itself without keeping other factors in mind, such as the overall theme of the piece, foreshadowing issues, and sometimes even other characters. While the characters created can be good, possibly even iconic, it can create a disconnect between the characters, sometimes even a disconnect between the characters and the overall piece. By considering various factors, the characters can be better linked to each other and the piece in question.

Progress
Eleven Days ago, I wrote a story called I'm back—maybe? In it, I talked a bit about my personal journey and highlighted some contests outside of Vocal that I was interested in participating in. I'm doing this because I've stepped away from writing for far too long. I've fallen out of practice, and my apathy has turned into the worst bout of writer's block I've ever experienced in my 28 years of life.

The Soul of a Poet
I thought I would write and tell a little about myself. I was born and raised in a rural area of Western North Carolina, in a small mountain community called Spillcorn. It's a place where everyone knows each other, where generations stay rooted in the same hills and hollers. Many who were raised there never left, never received an education, and never traveled farther than the town itself. I was determined to do things differently. I went to college and moved to the big city of Asheville, big to me at least. That move opened my world.
