The Origins of Symbols @ and #
Have you ever wondered why we use specific symbols for certain things? Especially the symbols used in social media. People all around the world use them every minute of every day on social media. However, most don’t even know the history and meaning behind these symbols. And almost all of them were used and created before the internet was even a thought. The symbols I’m referring to are the hashtag (#) and the at (@). These symbols can be seen all over social media sites such as YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Both of these symbols have huge significance on all these platforms without them they would become bland. Below we will dive deeper and find the true origin of the at and hashtag symbols.

How Steve Jobs Embraced His Biggest Failure
When Uber CEO Travis Kalanick was ousted to step down from his company, he told them he will just be "Steve Jobs-ing it" meaning he plans on returning to his company as president, just like Steve Jobs. However, when Steve Jobs left Apple in 1985 his return was not as easy and simple as Travis would put it.

Dr. Shirley Jackson the inventor of modern phone technology
I never really gave much thought to certain aspects of modern technology related to telecommunication. When we went from rotary dial to touch tone phones I just assumed that technological advances took place all the time and never considered the individual people who were involved. I had no idea that an African American female was responsible for our being able to push buttons rather than stick our fingers in the old rotary dial telephones. In the back of my mind I had assumed that such inventors were male like George Washington Carver, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Edison. I now know that I was wrong.

Microsoft: A Case Study
Microsoft's product and marketing evolution over the years has shown progressive development. Founded by Bill Gates and Paul Allen in 1975, Microsoft has become the world's most successful software company (Keller, 2016, p. 94). During the '80s, the Disk Operating System (DOS) was created for IBM computers. This kind of computer operating system allows a user to type commands or simple instructions. There is also the ability to browse files on a hard drive and manage them. Within the next ten years, Microsoft began to make its name known throughout the public. The company was becoming a hit with businesses. Microsoft Office was released in 1986 (Keller, 2016, p. 94). This is a suite of productivity software that we still very much use in the present. It contains a word processor, spreadsheet creator, presentation maker, and more. These are all programs that every business utilizes on a day-to-day basis. Microsoft made it their goal to help empower companies and consumers alike.

The Invention of the Printing Press
Introduction: For more than five thousand years prior to the invention of the printing press, scribes and clerks in the West wrote private letters, commercial transactions, sacred scriptures, and imperial decrees by hand. Furthermore, China had been employing the use of mechanical print by A.D. 750, and yet the innovation of printing failed to cause major political or socio-economic developments in that region. According to Rogers, an innovation is a new technology or idea presented by an innovative thinker. Although Johan Gutenberg is famous for inventing the printing press, the innovation itself does not have full explanatory scope as to how the invention changed cultures and societies. So, how did Gutenberg’s printing press result in a wild explosion of knowledge and ideas throughout Europe? A combination of people, processes, pressures and philosophies facilitated the transformation of the religious landscape of Europe for centuries to come, steadily causing Christianity to expand into a worldwide religion.
