Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman
The MCU has announced quite a few projects that are to be released in the next couple of years, the first of which being the Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman animated series. I have high hopes for this series as it cast completely new actors, not using Tom Holland allows the world to continue to build and it keeps the audience from getting too attached to the existence of just him as Spiderman. Considering that he is now engaged, we will all have to cope with the very real possibility that he might be done with Spiderman all together. I don’t think this is a project people were particularly excited about, in fact I think most people forgot it was happening. So let’s see if it meets the fact that I have no expectations.

Cordially Invited
We are still keeping our thumb on the pulse of streaming service projects and we are shifting gears to Prime Video. Not sure if we’ve covered this but I will watch anything that Reece Witherspoon is in. And there is a new film on Prime Video called Cordially Invited starring my sweet Elle Woods. It looks like a cute little romantic comedy which is just so perfect for her. And her production company helped produce it so you know it's gonna be good. Oh also Will Ferrel is in it, and that is just delightful.

Section 31
Okay so Section 31 was not well received. It wasn’t well received by Star Trek fans and it wasn’t well received by film fans. Now how it plays as a Star Trek film is something that I have no stake in. I have literally never seen a single episode of Star Trek so the overarching context and the world it's supposed to fit into means absolutely nothing to me. So we will be judging this solely as a film. I will be critiquing it with the same criteria I do anything else.

Oscar Nominations
The Oscar nominations for 2025 have been announced and we are going to talk about them. We will recap the nominations for the major categories and talk about the possible snubs, the biggest surprises and then talk about who I think is going to actually take each of the categories. There were so many incredible films released last year that the awards this year are actually very up in the air and lots of films deserve the recognition.

One of Them Days
I feel like I have not seen Ms. Keke Palmer in anything in a while so I was beyond ecstatic when I started seeing trailers and advertisements for One of Them Days. She is beyond talented and she is my favorite Broadway Cinderella. She is so phenomenal so I couldn’t wait to see what her newest comedy had in story. It has also been a long time since a film branded as a comedy was actually funny, so I was looking forward to that as well.

You Hurt My Feelings
Netflix is already cranking out the original films this year. You Hurt My Feelings is one of their 3-4 releases that came out in January this year. Starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus the comedy is added to the list of streaming service films that have some relatively big names. We are rapidly approaching the time where streaming service films are going to be eligible for awards without a theatrical screening. Streaming services have been producing more high quality content, with higher caliber actors so it is only a matter of time.

Back in Action
In recent years we have seen lots of actresses come back to acting after long hiatus’. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lindsay Lohan and now Cameron Diaz. Formerly known for romantic comedies and for being one of the members of the newer Charlie’s Angels, Cameron Diaz has been out of the spotlight for about a decade. So it is fitting that her return to the screen is in a Netflix film titled Back in Action. Now Cameron Diaz was never known for being an exceptionally good actress and her films were never exactly award winning, so I am not expecting much from her newest endeavor. That said, I love it when actresses choose their projects based on having fun.

What If...? Season 3
The first few episodes of What If…? Season 3 were absolutely better than the entirety of the first two seasons. We at the very least were able to focus on different characters which is literally the point of the show. We needed some fresh ideas and if nothing else we got that this season. All that said, I need us to have more episodes a season. This is exactly the kind of show that is designed to have 18+ episodes a season, only 8 episodes for something like this is straight up lazy, especially from somewhere like Disney who has more than enough money to produce more episodes.

What If...? Season 3
The first two seasons of What If…? Were really hit or miss. We got some interesting original characters and some fun stories but for the most part What If…? Is not living up to what it is meant for. We got like 1000 Captain Carter episodes for absolutely no reason and there have been very little actual exploration of all the possibilities of the Marvel Universe. Also Marvel has just so many characters and for some reason the writers of What If…? Seem to be completely fixated on the same 5 characters. I really hope that season 3 does a better job, but to be completely honest I don’t have a lot of confidence.

Worst Movies of 2024
Here we are, I watched over 100 movies last year and I am here to share with you the worst 10 films of 2024. There is some range to this list but not a whole lot. Every single one of these movies I gave a 4/10 or less. Yes some of them even earned a zero. So here we go, these are in no particular order.

Creature Commandos
James Gunn’s Creature Commandos was off to a rough start. I think it started really slow and the story still seems a little confused. That said it is his first project in his DCU so I have to give him some time to get going. We really are just getting started and I have heard some really amazing things about the end of the show. Gunn is still the only person I trust with the future of DC especially after seeing the Superman trailer. I do love some of the characters he chose to use for Creature Commandos so let’s get to the second half of the season.

Wolfman
Wolfman marks the first film release of 2025 and the first film from this year that I got to see. Not only was it a pretty good horror film but it was a textbook perfect metaphor for generational trauma. The very small cast did a great job, and it was an excellent way to kick off the year. 2025 is going to be full of incredible movies just like the last few years have been. But hopefully this film is an indication that horror movies are about to improve, cause last year was a little rough.
