One Year Ago Today...
By Sandy Lo The day started out like any other. That’s actually a lie, it was better than any other day. In fact, the entire year had been better than all of the rest. Everything changed last December 31st. That was when I met him. Kaiden. I was supposed to meet some asshole from a dating app for a drink. I hadn’t done much dating in my life, especially not on some crappy app that made it impossible to actually connect with someone. But it was New Year’s Eve and I was tired of being alone, so I thought 2022 would be different. I downloaded a handful of apps, swiped right on a bunch of random guys without much thought, and made a last-minute date with an attractive doctor. That is if he was even really a doctor.

Animal Therapy
By Sandy Lo Opening her eyes, Mattie saw the familiar bright blue-green water surrounding her. She heard one of the handlers describe the color as teal once. Words are fuzzy for Mattie, but she enjoys them. The sound of them, the different tones of the humans' voices when they say them. She can tell what kind of day they are having when she hears their greetings, even from the floor of her enclosure, she somehow knows.

Pumpkin-Pecan Oat Bars Recipe
By Sandy Lo I absolutely adore oats! They’re incredibly versatile and need very little ingredients added to them in order to make a hearty and healthy breakfast or snack. Baked oat bars are one of my favorite things to make because usually, I throw together a variable of 4-6 ingredients that I have laying around my kitchen and bake them up for 20 minutes for a nutrish and satisfying treat!

Rediscovering My Love for Pokémon
By Steven A. Clubb I still remember the rush of opening my present on Christmas day and seeing the yellow mouse known as Pikachu on the box of my new game: Pokémon Yellow. Collecting these creatures and going on adventures gave me an excitement I never had before. Who would have thought how easy it would be to become so attached to digital animals? I had to have every game that was released throughout my childhood. After the IV generation, I started to slowly lose interest in the Pokémon games and I was getting more into shooter games on other systems. Having no incentive to get the next-gen Nintendo console, Pokémon was officially out of my life sadly.

Ruby Rose Brings Power + Vulnerability to Pilot of ‘Batwoman’
Let me preface this by saying I initially had no intention of watching Batwoman on The CW. While I love superhero movies, and have recently watched a few comic-related series, Batman has been done numerous times and not always well. Michael Keaton has always been my favorite Batman. While I was all for the idea of a female version, I was afraid in the name of feminism something would get lost about the premise behind the superhero.

Future Thieves Kills It at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall
The Nashville-based alt-rock trio Future Thieves hit the tiny stage two at the Rockwood Music Hall under horrible red lighting, but the band still came out looking like bright, shiny pennies that make musical wishes come true.
