'My Hero Academia': Ranking the Openings
To be honest, they’re all great. My Hero Academia is about a week away, and it’s easily one of the most anticipated anime of the year. This anime is popular for a million reasons, from the fun plot and action sequences to the dynamic characters and emotional stories they have. It also helps that they have great openings. Having a good opening is pretty much essential to any anime (I mean, you may have even heard the opening to Neon Genesis Evangelion and don’t even know it) as it highlights and foreshadows important story arcs to expect. My Hero Academia has had five openings thus far, and honestly, ranking them is very hard. However, before the latest season drops and we get another (most likely) awesome opening to look forward to every week, let’s look at the openings that came before and see which is the best of the best.

'Sailing' with AKMU
Sailing with AKMU AKMU is back! It’s been a few years since AKMU came out with new music, two years, to be exact. The brother/sister duo (Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun, respectively) were on hiatus due to Chanhyuk enlisting in his mandatory military service required in South Korea. Now that they are back together, they’ve finally released a new album to bless our ears with soft acoustics and sweet vocals.

'My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry': Book Review
Don’t let the long title scare you off On my ever growing list of books to read, I’ve had this book on hold for some time. Thanks to a book club I have with my roommates, I decided this would be an interesting book to read. My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry is a book by Frederik Backman. Translated to English from Swedish, the book tells the story of seven year old Elsa coping with the loss of her strange and quirky grandmother, her best friend in the world. As the title suggests, her grandmother left Elsa apology letters to deliver to the people in her life for the various major and minor wrongs she’s committed toward them throughout her life.

Book Review: The Robert Langdon Series
They’re bestsellers for a reason I’ve finally finished the Robert Langdon series. It took me a couple of years, but I made it. The Robert Langdon series is written by Dan Brown and consists of five novels so far, and hopefully there are more in the future. It’s a very popular series, starting with Angels & Demons in 2000, and Origin in 2017. This series has gained a lot of fans also due to popular movies, most notably The Da Vinci Code, as well as Angels & Demons, and Inferno.

Commuter Anxiety
If you’re like me, you have an anxiety disorder. That may not cover everyone reading, but it still casts a wide net. The wild thing about anxiety is that normal things can be one million times more difficult. This is why riding the subway or the bus during rush hour, something that’s stressful to people without anxiety, can feel like a tailor-made hell for you to suffer. The subway has everything: people crammed in like a tin of sardines, overwhelming heat, angry people, your own sleepiness as you trudge to work. I seriously think I would Uber most days if that were an affordable option.

Taemin is "Famous"
It has never ceased to amaze me how incredible Taemin’s career is even solo from his group, SHINee. He manages to be part of a powerhouse group in K-Pop, while also establishing his own style. Taemin is a god of dance, sexy vibes, and seductive vocals. Every time he comes out with something new, you know you’ll get these elements in a stylish, atmospheric vibe. July 26th marked the latest comeback from Taemin, this time the title track for his upcoming Japanese mini album. This is Famous, and it’s Taemin at his best. I couldn’t stop myself from writing a short piece about it.

10 Best 'Run! BTS' Episodes
People know BTS for their incredible music and connection to fans. Another side to BTS’ work is one that airs on the South Korean streaming service V Live: it’s Run! BTS, a reality-esque show made of 30 minute episodes. These episodes see the BTS boys either in studios playing games in Korea, or travelling the world getting into all sorts of scenarios. Run!BTS is a huge part of ARMY culture, providing an up close and personal view of how the boys interact with each other, and what they act like in non-music related situations. While Run! BTS doesn’t air every single week, taking hiatuses every so often as a normal television show would, there are still a large amount of episodes. At this point in time, they’ve reached over 70 episodes. That’s a lot to catch up on for new ARMYs or others who haven’t gotten around to it yet.

Your First Job Out of College: YIKES
Jobs. We all need them. While the job market is difficult and scary, finally landing that new job can be just as frightening. What do I do? What if I don’t like it? I have to wake up early? The list of fears can stretch for miles. It did for me, and I’ve been out of college doing job applications forever. I finally got a full time office position after months of retail, and oh boy was I terrified. It’s a temp job, so what if they don’t take me on at the end of it? What do I do? What if I don’t get along with my coworkers? I can’t list all my fears here, because then you’d be reading a list the size of the Bible. However, I’ve been there about two weeks, and you know what?

Gurren Lagann Is Insane Fun
I recently finished Gurren Lagann, and I can honestly say there’s nothing else like it. This is a unique anime for many reasons. Needless to say, some major spoilers are ahead, so if you plan on watching this and want to be surprised, maybe check back in after you’ve watched it all.

'Black Mirror' Season 5: Not the Finest Hour
Black Mirror is a historically strong show. It’s one of my favorite shows, to be honest. I was excited to see what this newest season would bring. Seeing the casting, I was a little nervous. With the three episodes starring Anthony Mackie, Andrew Scott, and Miley Cyrus in each, I wondered if the star power of these well-known actors would overshadow the writing and big ideas the show is known for.

'Dark Phoenix' Review
I was very excited walking into this movie. I’m a huge fan of the X-Men movies, both the good and the bad. I love the heroes and their powers; I love the social commentary the movies invite. Even the worst movies, The Last Stand and Apocalypse, have some nice action scenes, and of course the classic Charles vs. Erik frenemy dynamic. Also, I’ll put my spoiler warning here, there are a few bits in here where I discuss the ending and what not.

Making a Positivity Journal
Keeping a journal can be a lot of work. I've tried to have a daily journal where I write things to get out all my feelings for the day. When that became too much, I tried to do at least one sentence a day. Still, I couldn't keep up with it.
