Song Review: The Weeknd 'Blinded by the Light' is an Aural Time Machine. Top Story - April 2020.
I want to live inside the synth track on The Weeknd’s Blinding Lights. Growing up in the 80’s, I feel like I did grow up inside that synth track. The Weeknd has taken us all back in time to 1981, the founding of MTV and the ascension of new wave. It’s beautiful, man. Often I have wondered if it were possible to recreate an aesthetic in art perfectly and The Weeknd has done it.

NBA Twitter Celebrates the Apparent Demise of John Paxson
Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Chicago Bulls are actively seeking a new top basketball executive. In other words, Thank U John Paxson, NEXT! NBA Twitter is celebrating as only this snarky, schadenfreude-loving, maniacs can. As a Chicago Bulls fan myself, I am completely here for this, lapping up every nasty, flippant, insulting moment of it. Let’s go to the twitter pile-on of all twitter pile-ons.

Movie Review: 'The Other Lamb' is a Stunner
The appeal of The Other Lamb is difficult to describe. This unique drama from Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska doesn’t fit any traditional genre description. The film is defiantly non-traditional in presenting a story that relies heavily upon visual cues and mystique. The Other Lamb is unquestionably brilliant and yet nebulous.

Movie Review: 'Verotika' is Wildly Terrible
What to make of the directorial debut of rocker Glen Danzig? The Mother singer has made a movie that is either one of hell of a comic troll job or an Ed Wood level, earnest abomination. Verotika is a three part anthology movie featuring three stories loosely tied together by a nonsensical interstitial storyteller who may be a vampire or a demon or The Devil? That’s where the bizarre, confounding journey of Verotika begins.

Movie Review: 'Resistance' Starring Jesse Eisenberg
Well, I won’t be cracking wise about mimes again any time soon. The new World War 2 movie, Resistance, tells an astonishing true story about the man who remains the most famous mime in the world, even more than a decade after his passing, Marcel Marceau. Portrayed by a winsome Jesse Eisenberg, we find Marcel Marceau a romantic hero who risked his life to save tens of thousands of children from the Nazis. It’s a story anyone who has ever made fun of mimes has likely never heard before.

Movie Review: 'The Burnt Orange Heresy' is a Smart, Flashy, Thriller
The Burnt Orange Heresy (watch the trailer here on YouTube) stars Danish theater actor Claes Bang in the lead role of James Figueres, an art expert and critic. As the story begins, Figueres is broke, slightly inebriated and more than a little desperate for a break. He's delivering an art lecture to a group of little old ladies that he hopes will buy his very niche book of art criticism.

Movie Review: 'Fantasy Island'is Corporatized Horror Trash
Fantasy Island is a tedious attempt at reviving familiar I.P with a ‘twist.’ What if we take a forgettable 1970’s TV show and make it a horror movie? Clever? The result certainly is not clever or interesting. Rather, the remake of Fantasy Island as a Blumhouse horror movie with a sub-B-List cast reeks of corporate interference and of a director who is more hack than actual director, only capable of forgettably transmitting corporate dictates into a bland screen product.

Song Review: 'The Box' by Roddy Ricch
The Box by Roddy Ricch is the number one song in America. I am curious as to why? What is it about this song that has resonated so deeply with the American people that it has become the most popular piece of music on the market today? In this review I will examine the appeal of The Box, it’s themes, meanings and lyrical elements. We will also examine the songs place in the history and evolution of rap and hip hop as that is far more interesting than the song itself.

Movie Review: 'Impractical Jokers The Movie' is an Inside Joke
This review is a warning to those who are not already fans of Impractical Jokers: This movie version of the popular Tru TV prank show is not for you. Unless you are part of this cult shows fanbase already, there is nothing here for you beyond a few chuckles and a lot cringe based attempts at humor that fall flat as often as they earn a giggle.

Movie Preview: 'Run!' Starring Sarah Paulson
Run! That’s the title of a new horror thriller from the writer-director-producing team behind the inventive and exciting recent thriller Searching. That film used the innovative tactics of social media and webcams to create an engrossing and engaging thriller that featured a great performance from John Cho as a father using the tools of modern media to try to find his missing daughter.
