metal
Distorted guitars, crazy rhythms, dense bass, and insane vocals. What it means to be a metal head.
Racecar
The year 2010 brought the release of progressive-metal outlet Periphery’s debut album, the self-titled Periphery I - a boisterous and peculiarly captivating display of surging guitar riffs, invasive vocals, and a specific style of play that seemingly “dragged djent from the virtual world into the real one” [1].

5 Immense Metal Title Tracks You Need To Hear
One of my favourite things about the metal genre is the incredible range. Some songs are made for the gym; angry, pounding tracks that fill you with adrenaline. Then there's the other side, the symphonic metal where you're taken to another world altogether, with incredible storytelling and visuals to make you feel like you're lost in a fairy-tale.

Avatar - Hunter Gatherer
Band Bio: Avatar is a metal band of some sort, (honestly it's hard to slap a genre on these guys that would really define their sound). Formed in 2001 in Gothenburg Sweden by drummer John Alfredsson and guitarist Jonas Jarlsby, eventually filling out their line up with bassist Henrik Sandelin, guitarist Tim Öhrström and the ever-versatile vocalist Johannes Eckerström. Who to this point has released eight albums in: Thoughts of No Tomorrow (2006), the in my option melodic death masterwork that is Schlacht (2007), their self titled album Avatar (2009) their bizzaro departure from Melodic Death Metal in The Black Waltz (2012), Hail the Apocalypse (2014), Feathers & Flesh (2016) The ever kookie concept album Avatar Country (2018).

It's all about 2000 - 2010!
The one decade I have been listening to is 2000 to 2010 because I loved and still do Linkin Park. Something about Nu-Metal helps bring out the creativity in my stories. As a writer, music plays an important role. Not just to help me relax but to help me write stories, design characters, and plots.

Music of the Empowered
Heavy Metal. These words are enough to conjure the satanic imagery of a musical genre that seems, on the surface, to glorify aggression, violence, and questionable morals. The knee-jerk reaction of many people is to stereotype metal music as “screaming” and “overly aggressive and loud”. However, heavy metal has a rabid and loyal fanbase to rival, and perhaps exceed, any other genre. There must be more to it.

The Rocking Life
A day in the life of a metal head... He picked out his favorite album: Countdown to Destruction by Megadeth. He wasn't going to fuck around so he put the needle directly on the channel that led to his favorite song on his favorite album: Symphony of Destruction. Fuck yeah, he thought as he heard the electric guitars growl, the bass thump rhythmically, the drums beat out the time, and the singer wail,

Heavy Metal
In recent years I have been challenged on my knowledge of the genre of music known as Heavy Metal, both times by my own children, the first time this happened was around 8yrs ago when my daughter was 16 years old and we were discussing music, I don't remember the exact conversation but it resulted in her blurting out that I "Know nothing about metal music".

Breaking The Glass Wall
My taste in music is all over the place. I’ll listen to pretty much anything (...except country). I’ve got something from practically every genre for every mood. And these days, I've been running the full spectrum of both my favorite music and my emotions.

Music, Therapy, and You!
Hello everyone welcome to chapter two of MT&U! Our topic today: Is heavy metal and what they call “extreme music” just as beneficial (in a music therapy aspect) as something soothing and relaxing, we’re just gonna use classical as our default. But before we begin I just wanna say thank you to everyone who read chapter one! Fun fact: I actually started this endeavor on Youtube, and originally wanted these to be podcast episodes, but school got in the way, and I fell off the wagon. Round two, fight!

my special song
I knew the type of song I wanted to add here but like many people their favourites can change with mood. So I went a little backwards on the rules, I hope that's ok. I thought of the songs that have helped me through bad times, have cheered me up and helped me forget the world for a while. Despite my increasing age nothing beats screaming along to songs with a crowd at a heavy metal or thrash metal concert.
