Days of Future Juniper, Chapter Two
This time around Mini-Flash Juniper wasn’t having any trouble remembering she was Mini-Flash Juniper, but she was going to have to keep reminding herself everybody else thought she was Mini-Flash Bumblehub. There were three other Special Program girls onboard, besides the curly-haired one, and Juniper’s disguise took them in too. At the far end the drapes were tied back as to look out on a balcony, though what stretched beyond was imaginary void. Somehow the place scanned brainwaves, to make manifest its occupants’ thoughts in the form of spectral paintings etched across this infinite sky.

Next second Flashslip was onstage, warm about the cheeks and heart beating fast, which he guessed must have been from all the running. His newly-tinted perspective took in the vastness ahead, dry-ice cloudbanks swirling mysteriously on its broad borders, and boasting at present a clientele of three. Nevertheless, Flashslip seized the microphone and came in on cue.

The Ritual of Demand, Chapter Two
The subsequent phases of the solar cycle saw a tremendous change in Flashpower. He was a happier and more confident Mini-Flash all round. He lost his wan distracted look and his cheeks flushed with colour, the freckles on his snub nose standing out boldly. In class he could concentrate again, and his grades began to improve. Even his Flashball picked up a little, and when someone got the better of him he started taking it as any boy would, instead of getting his knickers in a twist. The adult Flashes all agreed Flashpower was finally getting the hang of being the age he was.
