Lockdowns are Directing the Evolution of Novel COVID Strains
Everyone in learns, in biology class, that evolution is governed by forces like natural selection. Sometimes natural selection is referred to as "survival of the fittest," though that's not quite right. Fitness merely changes the probability of different traits surviving within a population. But natural selection isn't simply a biological force. It is an environmental force. Fitness changes based on the environment. A trait that's detrimental in one environment might be useful in another. Sometimes the environment changes for natural reasons. Sometimes humans change the environment.

I Love Riddles
Riddles are a super cute way to flex our intellectual muscle. They play with words, play with perspective, juggle concepts, are simple yet profound, and best of all, punctuate moments with some light humour. Borrowed from a child’s library, a book of best puns and riddles is a great read, a sweet tickle.

The Golden Goat
Charters Towers Town in outback Australia that has now started profitable gold mining operations again Charters Towers is a town within the Charters Towers Region in northern Queensland, Australia. It is 134 kilometres inland from Townsville on the Flinders Highway. At the 2016 census the population was 8,120 people. During the last quarter of the 19th century the town boomed as the rich gold deposits under the city were developed. After becoming uneconomic in the 20th century, profitable mining operations have commenced once again. June – August is the busiest season for tourism in Charters Towers, so lodging and other accommodations could cost more than usual. Spring (September through November) Spring daily highs range from 87.4°F (30.8°C) and 79.2°F (26.2°C), which will feel very nice given the humidity and wind but be prepared for the occasional dust storms that spring up out of nowhere.

Why break the mould when you can smash it?

The prestigious magazine Vanity Fair has just shocked the world with an article by the late polemicist Christopher Hitchens. Now, I greatly admire Mr Hitchens’ wide body of work but this, it must be said, was not his finest hour. The article, which he no doubt thought was a very thorough and meticulous example of journalism, was entitled “Why Women Aren’t Funny.”
