When I saw Happy Gilmore 2 sitting at #1 on Netflix, I knew I had to watch it that very night. I grew up with the original Happy Gilmore—the wild mix of golf, hockey temper, and Adam Sandler’s chaotic charm was one of those movies that stuck in my memory. So when I hit play on the sequel, I had two questions in mind: Would it live up to the original? And could it give me that same rush of ridiculous comedy mixed with genuine heart?

Growing up my dream job was to be a comic book artist/writer. But with very little artistic talent that dream died pretty quickly. Now I do my best to bring my characters to life using apps like factory of heroes, swordmaker, armormaker, you doodle and photo cutout. They don't always turn out looking very good but I get more excited about the concepts and stories behind the characters than how well I can make the character look good. Sometimes my characters are from cultures I am not a part of because I think it fits their story or other aspects about them. I am not a cultural expert but at the very least I hope no one is upset by me using aspects of cultures I'm not a part of and find interesting. That said below is my original character Buibui.

Love and Rockets: New Stories Number 4
If there's one thing to say about Love and Rockets, it's that as far as comics go, it is curiously addictive. Love and Rockets is the long-running black-and-white comic series by Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez—an exploration of the life of chica Maggie and the ripped-from-life and put-out-there-baldly environment she occupies. I had always wanted to read it, since discovering an issue decades ago at Waldenbooks, and I had always assumed it was an examination of the L.A. punk scene of the Eighties—I think the issues back in those days, or at least the one I discovered, featured two lesbians, one of whom was depicted as a punk rocker. I remember a drawing of a post-punk gothy guy with a Cure T-shirt. Ah, nostalgia waves hit me so hard.
