Let Your Worries Roll Away Like Droplets On An Elephant Ear
Born and raised in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, a small country town, "Elephant Ears" exist naturally in nature. On the street where I grew up, they can be found in several spots growing in groups. It's something about these plants that I love. If rain droplets or some form of liquid contact the leaf of the plant, it forms small balls like a bead and roll off the leaf undisturbed. If you ever find yourself with the opportunity to spit on one, it's a magical experience watching the ball of liquid form and roll off onto the ground.

Life on Mars?
My dog stands under the awning, staring out into our backyard, sniffing the thick, soupy air. He needs to use his giant bathroom, but he needs to step onto the grass and into the storm to do so. It seems unfair and somehow unnatural that this is the only way for him: he hasn’t been a wolf for millennia. He doesn’t want to get wet, but he needs to pee—I know he does. He hasn’t gone since this morning, and the sun has long past.

Let It Go...
We all are holding on to something. A belief, a dream, a person, the past...whatever it is...sometimes one has to let it go and let it be. Holding on to something is not always the best course of action. It is the greatest of ironies that what we pursue persistently is something we can never obtain.

The Problem with Afternoons
No one would willingly exchange places with me for a glimpse of my world view, of my perception. Perhaps the view from my window they would be even less inclined to see, to bare witness to. In the mornings of more average days the sky is a tepid grey, like sullen dishwater clouded with soap and scraps. The birds drift listlessly along the skyline, entangled in the froth of the clouds. They call out their names in shrill cries, the sharpness of their beaks indicating that they are gulls, and yet I’m a few miles out from the sea. They torment me with their freedom, receding into the distance, into the sun that isn’t there to paint a warm picture. Instead, I paint it, skidding over the canvas with a tarnished brush, a chip on my shoulder.

Majestic Storm
I wake to the patter of rain over my head. The smell of coffee is wafting down the hall. I push myself out of bed to start my day. As I walk into the kitchen, the view from my family room catches my eye. I peer through a large picture frame window taking in the wonder of the powerful ocean. There are dunes that protect my home with buds of new growth. The beach grass is taking anchor to help the earth with the erosion that takes place with the constant wind blowing. Atop the dune are benches that allow you to sit and take in the beauty of the ocean and all of its glory. Just past the dunes are sand fences that help to control the wind and the stabilization of the dunes. These small wood posts are like armor against the power of Mother Earth. Once you pass the soldiers, you have miles of sand; it narrows in front of my view.

out of nothing, metamorphosis. First Place in Landscape Mode Challenge.
There was a lone bamboo reed growing in my backyard, right next to the window by my dining table. I can’t remember how or when it started growing there. I’ve lived here for two years and I only just noticed it about a month ago.

Under the blanket of the night
The first time I heard about life crisis was when I was attending my High School ages ago. I was enjoying my life and stress free years. That time, I thought to myself, "How can anyone feel so lost in their life? What can be the reason? It will never happen to me". Boy, was I wrong.

The silent worrier.
You ever feel like you take on the battles of everyone else and try to fix them. Sometimes you actually do fix the issues and help others, and maybe that’s why you’re constantly trying to help again. Though, sometimes you feel overwhelmed, you take on the emotional draft of those around you and you never express. You hold on to the worries, pain, denial about feeling sad or depressed. Rather it’s from your own emotional, or physical damage or someone you’ve helped.
