Making The Best of a Difficult Situation
Making The Best of a Difficult Situation Debrarose Toscano Year after year I found myself unable to attend quilt shows due to various reasons: to far away, to expensive, unavailable due to work or family obligations etc.…. and then came COVID. After dealing with all the restrictions that we instantly had to face and sewing feverishly making face mask for family, friends, neighbors local nursing homes I was tired, nervous, and depressed. Until one day I read an email from Mancuso Show Management informing all of us that they were going to hold their first virtual quilt show. I immediately went to their website to check it out and instantly signed up for their event including various classes. I attended classes in each of their virtual shows in 2020 – wow what a great experience I was in my glory!!

Reframing 101: The Power of Perspective
The way you perceive your environment will differ greatly from the person next to you. To prove this point, ask yourself, regarding the photo above, is the lady falling or flying? It doesn't matter what the answer is. The point is the fact that two people could give different answers, purely based on two things:

5 Simple Steps to Get S.M.A.R.T. About Your Fitness and Wellness Goals
If you’re anything like me there have been countless times where you’ve sat down with a pen and paper to write out goals you want to achieve over the next few weeks or months. Whether it’s for New Year’s or an upcoming special occasion, you’ve meant the goals you set and start out motivated for the first couple of weeks only to fall off track and leave them unfinished. It’s easy when we’re at this low point to think we ourselves are the problem, but in fact a large part of the issue lies in how we plan and set our goals. It wasn’t until I heard about the S.M.A.R.T method that I realized I had been going about goalsetting all wrong.

Fluff
An old New Home sewing machine sits to my left. An elderly pair of scissors sits to its left, waiting to be used for the next project. A cut out scrub top sits draped, onto the plastic chair, waiting for its introduction to the mechanics and magic of the machine to form it into a practical piece of clothing. To my right is a four shaft, six treadle J-Made floor loom. The warp, waiting for the throw of the boat shuttle to produce another line of the rosebud sampler that I am making. It's weft is 8/2 burgundy cotton thread which is shimmering in the sunlight. The kitchen table sports a ten year old UFO of crewel embroidery, a cute picture of a puppy and a kitten. I found it in my stash a couple of weeks ago. I figured that this year it would be finished come hell or high water.

MENTAL ATTITUDE
Achievement is in the blood. There are men whom destiny can never hold down; they walk forward in a jolly way, and take by divine right the best of all that the earth manages. Yet, their prosperity isn't accomplished through the Samuel Smiles-Connecticut strategy.

How to Change Your Beliefs and Stick to Your Goals for Good
The basic idea is that, if you can deal with your long-term behavior. It is possible that you may cheat yourself, go to the gym, or eating a healthy meal, once or twice, but if you're evolving and changing, and your core personality is changing, it is difficult to maintain in the long-term change.

Self Love
As a life coach, I have found myself saying the same cliché catch phrases to clients like “You have to love yourself before you can expect anyone else to love you”, and “As above, so below”. The key to most things in seeking fulfillment in life is to cultivate a healthy self-love practice. What I have found most interesting though, is the response I get nearly every single time I bring this up to my clients:

Journey to Expert
I have viewed sewing in a lot of ways but I never thought it was something I would enjoy doing. The first thing I remember sewing was an apron and a chef's hat for a school project when I was in the 4th grade. That wasn't when my love for sewing started ,there was a deadline I had to meet up with and my work had to be a certain way (how the teacher thought it should be) inorder to pass the class. Fast forward a few years later and I find myself taking sewing classes. Yes, sewing classes! I bought a ruler, a sewing chalk, a note book, some pencils, an erasier and a pen for taking notes. I was going to be learning from one of the best tailor shop in that area and I couldn't have been more excited. In about a month, I'll be sewing my own cloths was the thought running through my head while I signed up for the class. With the number of clients that walked in everyday, the amount of backlog orders that had to be completed and the number of students that had gone ahead of me in class, I found the only thing I learnt after a few weeks was how to work the food paddle of a sewing machine. Go get your money back! Is right, if you said that. I felt like I was wasting my time so I stopped attending classes and decided to focus on other things. This wasn't when my love for sewing started either infact, the experience developed a tension in me that made me think "maybe sewing isn't just for me."
