Melting The Ice... Tear Out The Pages

it's like ice, she said

the contents of my heart

shaded in black, but filled in with red

*

tattered are the corners, jagged the edge

torn from the pages of a fairytale

it's like ice she said

*

i let the thought run away with my head

the idea of it, soft and smooth, still unbroken

shaded in black, but filled in with red

*

it's like ice, she said

not at all what i'd planned

shaded in black, but filled in with red

*

i fell for the ruse

let the game make the rules

all i've to show for it, is broken and bruised

*

maybe i'll start over, create my own, instead

leave the fairytale for make believe

it's like ice, she said

shaded in black, but filled in with red

Ooo this was amazing!!! Every line held an undeniable allure

  • "shaded in black, but filled in with red" Loved that line the most! Your Villanelle was so powerful!

  • Your villanelle definitely comes together as a cohesive story.
