What It's Like Having A Therapist/Psychiatrist And Being On AntiDepressants (Long Title I Know)
Growing up, I had a lot of hesitation going to therapy. And I had even more hesitation going on medication. I was surrounded with stigma and people having bad experiences with therapy, on top of all the stories of antidepressants making people feel like robots on autopilot throughout life. But I was also surrounded by sadness, anxiety, and depressing thoughts that slowly became more and more harmful to my health, so I decided to dive head first into the world of self-help, mental health, and mental stability.

Adlerian
This is my paper that started my graduate school education that started with learning to be a counselor and ended up achieving a doctorate in Education, but more specifically in Reading and literacy leading to research and writing. I found out there are a lot of correlations between education and counseling in various areas. I am still interested in writing and sharing my ideas using various counseling theories. This is actually a 15 page paper that was handed in a few weeks before the end of the semester to see what particular theory that we would probably use in our practice or whatever we were planning to do in the future.

Racism is still a blind spot in psychotherapy
On the phone, Lucía Muriel says that she is careful when talking to journalists. Only a few psychotherapists could tell what she has to tell. The topic is sensitive, and what you read about her is often read as representative for a whole community.

Understanding Shadow Work
Shadow Work is how you integrate the aspects of your unconscious psyche into your conscious experience and allow the positive aspects of the shadow to express themselves. When properly used and channeled, the shadow-self has traits that you can use to further your own personal development. Everyone carries a dark side ,even if we don't like to admit to our flaws. Shadow work can sound creepy or a means to what goes bump in the night. Some parts of it may be rather uncomfortable for most but it is necessary work to uncoil the true joy that is beyond those skeletons and fears. Especially the one That we keep tucked away in the closet of our own mind.

If You Only Got Out of Your Own Way
“You have shades where you can be really great, but you’re inconsistent. Now, if you just got out of your own way, you’d be great” – If I had a dime for each time I was told those words, I’d seriously have enough money to retire. If only the family, friends, colleagues, teachers, and bosses would understand that each cut of those words, would stay with my far into adulthood.

Finding Hope
Arthur was lonely. Not that this was anything new for him, but this time the loneliness seemed to be setting in and pulling him into a darker place than he was used to. Months of therapy had helped with coping strategies, but days like today made Arthur feel particularly down. Arthur slumped into the soft fabric of his favourite chair and let out a sigh. Looking around, he could see the backlog of chores climbing up around him. Dirty dishes sat cluttered on the side of grungy sink; clothes were scattered haphazardly over the floor where they had been left sitting for the better part of a week; dust layered the bookshelves; and a slight malodour permeated throughout most of the house. Arthur shook his head slightly, noting that he had been neglecting more and more of the daily tasks as time progressed.
