controversies
It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.
Nationalism Is Not Patriotism
On Veterans Day this year, we celebrate 100 years since the Armistice that ended World War I. America's European allies gathered in Paris this past weekend to honor and thank our fallen soldiers, those who lie forever on European soil after defeating Germany in 1918. It was the war that was supposed to end all world wars, but only two decades later America would once again send thousands of soldiers to fight, and to die, to rescue Europe from the Nazi menace.

Donald Trump, DON'T SHOOT!
What in the world is Donald Trump thinking this time??? Yesterday, the man made some pretty intense threats against Central American migrants heading north towards the US right now, calling for possible military force to be used against them.

When It Comes to Divisiveness, Trump Is Not the Only One to Blame
America is having a bit of a crisis right now. It is deeply divided, and it only appears to be getting worse. The most extreme case is the fact that a man, identified as Cesar Sayoc, has been arrested as a suspect in sending crude, homemade explosives to a variety of left-leaning critics of President Donald Trump including former President Obama, Hillary and Bill Clinton among others, as well as CNN.

On Nationalism and Its Value
If I held a Nationalism Conference and invited a representative from every nationalist collective, what do you assume would happen? I would have a member of the Black Panther Party sitting next to an Alt-Right supporter across from a Shiite Muslim and a Jew. How much should I spend on security? Before we can consider the value of nationalism as a construct we must first understand the concept of nationalism. There have been many people who have bought in to the concept of nationalism lately, but may not fully be aware of what it truly means. Furthermore, nationalist supporters may be unaware what the social construct is fully capable of producing if left misunderstood, and to it's own devices.

Disease Mongering: The Values of the Modern Healthcare Industry
(OCT 7th, 2017)—There are a few things that every American ought to be aware of, and among those is the knowledge that numbers do not lie. In addition,, there are a few things that the government should be aware of as well, dangers to the safety and security of it citizens are among the most important. When senators pledge to uphold our rights, they do so from threats both foreign and domestic. In the past, domestic threats to our life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness came from places such as “Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry,” according to John Adams. But more recently, some of these domestic threats seem to come to us from very unlikely places. Most would rather not admit it, but those who are most involved in healthcare and whose opinion we are lead to trust (read: doctors) are partly the reason we are facing the issue of excessive deaths due to prescription opiate abuse, in addition to things such as the commercialization of healthcare and the huge price tag now associated with concepts such as universal healthcare. Although, as we stated before the most important thing is that this issue isn’t infringing on our basic rights... right?

America Has a History of Separating Families
Many Americans were rightfully shocked and appalled. Soon after, the current state of the US was most commonly compared to the likes of Nazi Germany. Though most comparisons come from distant pasts and under dictatorships that most would never associate with the land of the free, the United States does have a dark history of separating families.

The Kavanaugh Case
My family and about 90 percent of the people I surround myself with have been following the Kavanaugh case religiously, from completely opposite ends of the spectrum, I might add. Even if they weren't, it's been constantly in the papers, on the news, on Facebook, on Twitter; it's basically impossible to avoid if you live in the modern world. I'm not trying to avoid seeing it. I believe it should be seen and talked about. But no matter where the truth lies in this case, it's scary as fuck. The scary part about this case and cases like this is that there's no way to prove what actually happened 30 years ago. There's his story and there's her story and somewhere in between is the truth. Another scary part is that it's very possible that they both believe they are telling the truth. The scariest part, though, is how this is affecting our society at the moment. The protests I've seen aren't the worst I've ever seen. However, they seem to be on a level of harassment towards the senators on the case. I have been asked many times what my thoughts on the Kavanaugh case are. To some, I have answered this question the best I can without starting an argument. Now I have some thoughts.

The Kavanaugh vs. Dr. Ford Dilemma
Unless you’ve had your head under a rock these last few weeks, you’ve probably heard some of the commotion surrounding Brett Kavanaugh becoming the next Justice on the Supreme Court. He has been accused of sexual assault by Dr. Blasey Ford, and there have been rallies and protests and demonstrations against him all over the country. And Kavanaugh isn’t the first white male to be accused of such heinous acts in the last few years—he is only the latest on a very long list.
