2024 Vocal Aspirations
2023 is dead. I buried it as soon as I could on Sunday, December 31, 2023 – at exactly 11.59.59 PM. As I tossed in the last scoop of dirt, I neither said goodbye nor shed tears. After all, 2023 was an uneventful, unremarkable year. I simply put my phone down, went to the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and then slid into bed.

Hey World, I'm a Writer
Writing is scary to me, but not writing is also scary. I’m scared to let people know what I think. I’m scared to put myself out there and be judged. But I am also scared of living a life without purpose and of being on my deathbed full of regrets and what ifs.

An Author's Intervention
Everyone tells stories. It's part of being human. But some of us feel called to share our stories with the world, wondering if we might earn a living writing. If you're one of these types, I warn you, friend, once others learn about your aspirations, they will pepper you with endless questions about how your writing is going until inevitably someone asks the evil, boss-monster of all questions, "Have you published anything yet?"

Out with the old
Last year, I decided to delete my old Vocal account. Deleting my account was like closing a chapter in my life. Grammar, spelling, proper punctuation, and writing flow are not my strong suit. (Go figure, the little dyslexic girl loves to write, right?) Sigh! It was a bold move, but one that I felt was necessary.
