Learn to Love Writing
September 2021: I became officially, unequivocally, a full-time professional writer. My rolling admin contract with the university I had been working at finally had an end date stamped onto it. That pretty much took the decision out of my hands. I would just let that day come and go, and when it came and went, I would be a full-time professional copywriter, because I literally had nothing else!

My vocal goals
My first and most important goal to me is to get a top story. That has been my goal from the start. It doesn't matter to me whether it is a fiction or non-fiction story. I have a feeling it will be a nonfiction story. I have several non-fiction stories written that are in the style of other top stories. I just have to type and publish them. I would love the exposure people get for having a top story. I know I am a good writer. I have stories that have done well. I just can't figure out how to get a top story.

In My Mind ~ Surviving with ADHD
There are so many misconceptions of ADHD no one takes it seriously. It's so simpler to Autism it should be in the spectrum. I don't share this because I'm always afraid I'm won't be treated equally to my peers, or co-workers. On job applications I have checked off I don't wish to say when it comes to the disability part. I hate the word disability, so much so it's close to loath. It's like it's inviting me to be mistreated or bullied.

Nailed it yet?
One of the great things about being a Vocal+ member is the chance to stretch your skills, broaden your boundaries and take a step out of your comfort zone by entering Vocal challenges. To me, any attempt at writing poetry is a giant leap beyond anything I feel comfortable with.

The Sculptor
I have numerous intentions for myself as a creator on Vocal for this year. Because there is a somewhat lengthy list, I have organized my aspirations into categories. My hope is that this will not only make it easier to read, but that on my end, I will better be able to refer back to my list of intentions and check on my progress throughout the year. Refreshing my mind on what my goals are will help keep me on track when I lose motivation and focus. This is the hope.

Growth
I am sitting at the bottom of it all. The acid from the belly of the beast is crashing over me. Flesh slipping off bones, like gushing water down a 20 ft slide. I hold on to my smile to show the world I am enjoying the suffering. This year on Vocal I don't want to gloss over the tough shit.

2024 is the time to thrive.
Before 2023, my last submission to Vocal was a short piece for 2021's FFXIV Write challenge. FFXIV players respond to a series of written prompts that are released over the course of a month, sharing tales of their characters' adventures in the world of Eorzea. This started on Tumblr and has expanded to Twitter, if I recall correctly, but it's been a while since I paid attention.

My Zombie Walk With Vocal For 2024
Every year at Halloween the city I now call home has the streets of downtown blocked off as a hundreds of half dead looking humans show up in to parade the streets. The Zombie walk is a big deal and a quite the spectacle for this midsize city. It is pretty cool to watch those involved dance to Micheal Jackson’s Thriller as they stroll past the library. I, myself have not become a dancing Zombie, but the image has been on my mind when I think about getting through the next year and all that I want to accomplish.
