Flour Mites Are a Thing?!
Imagine a scenario in which you've woken up on a beautiful Sunday morning with a huge hankering for pancakes. Imagine also that you're the type of person who says, "I'm gonna make some amazing pancakes to combat said hankering," as opposed to the person who chooses to go to brunch at their nearest breakfast place. There's nothing wrong with the second person, of course, the two are simply different. Anyways, imagine that you are person #1. You type into Google, "best fluffy buttermilk pancakes" and you find the recipe that looks best. You get really excited because you think you're about to make the best pancakes of your life! You imagine all the ways in which they'll melt in your mouth. You think about the gooey, sugary syrup that you'll drown them in. You can taste the butter that you'll shmear over top. You're getting seriously stoked now!

Homemade Tomato Sauce
Today I am making homemade tomato sauce. This is one of the condiments I like to prepare and have on hand regularly. I have always loved ketchup and was used to slathering it with almost every meal. I knew I needed to cut back as manufactured ketchup is full of preservatives. My brother drew attention to this addiction and would joke “Your main meal today is ketchup with fries on the side!”

So here are some quick and easy ways to spruce up your pasta and impress your friends and family (as well as your stomach!)

A Dissection of Garlic
All too often, much emphasis in culinary science is given to finding and using the best possible ingredients. Yet this is but the beginning; cooking is process more than anything ~ and as I have found in my years in kitchens, most cooks, even chefs of excellence, have little idea what that process is.

Move Over Basil. Mint and Feta Are the New Flavor Essentials of Summer
When the first of the summer vegetable and fruit crops start to ripen, simple preparations are all that are wanted. A ripe peach or watermelon eaten by hand with their juices dripping down chins and hands is just perfect. So is corn on the cob, steamed or boiled, with butter and salt. Or fresh zucchini sautéed in olive oil and garlic.
