Longing For Green
St. Patrick's Day Monday Morning Huddle

Good morning, Vocal Media community! Welcome to another edition of my Monday Morning Huddle, a special one, marking St Patrick's Day. With Spring only days away, vibrations of green seem most fitting. Pair it with leprechaun tales, folklore, and all things holiday-related and we have the makings for a magickal edition of my year-long project created to uplift the human spirit.
If the photo above looks familiar, it's because this nature scene was featured in a previous edition of the Monday Morning Huddle but the backdrop was all about Winter.
From cold and still, the hush of Winter where all in the world seems to be sleeping to Spring, the return of warmer weather, and the celebration of nature's rebirth.
The pond was a particular photography topic for me in 2024. Looking back is like reliving the magick birthed during a seasonal transition.
Date appropriate with March 17 marking St Patrick's Day, I thought digging up this picture might inspire you, the reader, with visions of green. Longing for green speaks not of money but a yearning for something worth more than any dollar amount. It's the many splendid hues of green blessed by nature.
Think:
- budding trees
- sprouting grass
- bushes and shrubs waking up
Nature is nothing short of a magickal experience and today, only three days short of Spring's return, I celebrate what many long for, encouraging you to do the same.
Add St. Patrick's Day into the mix and I am confident that today's Monday Morning Huddle will put smiles on faces- hopefully yours.
St. Patrick's Day Tidbits ๐๐๐
Traditionally a religious and spiritual event, St. Patrick's Day commemorates the patron saint of Irelands' death dating to the fifth century. In our modern day, the annual holiday celebrating Irish culture reaches global appeal. From Chicago, Boston, and New York City in the States to Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and Russia, parades and traditional meals find worldwide love.
But did you know? ๐ฉ๐๐๐ฐ
- Saint Patrick was actually born in Britain? Yes, he was a slave captured at 16 and brought to Ireland.
- The holiday-related leprechaun (luchorpan) likely originates from the Celtic belief in fairies.
- Blue was the original color associated with Ireland dating to 1541 and King Henry VIII.
What about you? ๐ฎ๐ช ๐ฎ๐ช ๐ฎ๐ช
Raise your hand if you are Irish!
Raise your hand if you've been to Ireland!
Heck, raise your hand if you live in Ireland!
As a British American dual citizen, I don't believe I have Irish roots. However, my mum's last name, Armstrong, is Scottish, and I have pending research on my family tree.
Have I visited? Yep, but not in the traditional sense of the word. When I was 12, our family went home to England on holiday and after dense fog prevented our landing, we were redirected to Ireland. I will never forget the window seat view of an experience nothing short of a fairytale.
While none of us passengers were allowed to get off the plane the breathtaking scenery of the plane's descent has never left my mind's eye.
Visiting Ireland ranks high on my to-do list and I highly encourage the same to anyone who's never made the rounds.

Start your week off on a high note and get inspired with my pondside greenery.
Depending on where you live, the weather is beginning to take an upward turn. New York is seeing warmer temperatures- high 50s and 60s, yes, I will take it!
- Perhaps a walk should rank high on your agenda. Revisit your warmer weather hot spots and note the transitioning backdrops, indicative of a return soon of your favorite sceneries.
- Get the indoor planting going. Potted seeds basking in a sunny window exhale a green appeal as soon they will sprout and grow and before you know it, are transplanted to garden areas.
- Open windows, Spring clean, and change out curtains, bedding, and other decor to reflect a seasonal shift
- Plan hikes, long drives, even quiet moments outdoors like meditative reflections, nature gazing, and creative projects (photography, painting, writing).
The point is to find a personal green, that touch of magick only you can bring to your day.
And don't forget; this has nothing to do with money!
NOPE
It's a return to nature, a time-out for inspiration, inspiration that only you can acquire and interpret as personally unique to your being.
Maybe not an actual fairytale or a portal to Spring, maybe not a leprechaun granting you a pot of gold, but if you dare to envision hues of green with me, then you are opening yourself up to a special sort of magick, true to its birthright.
Daring to dream, daring to wonder, daring to wander- now that's worth more than any granted wish by a would-be faery because it all began with you!
Happy Monday, Happy St. Patrick's Day, and Happy 3 more days til Spring!
Have any plans for today or projects in the mix for Spring?
Drop me a line in the comments. I'd be delighted to hear from you.
Thanks for reading. Have a nice holiday and remember to stay safe!

I'm not an outdoor or nature person so it'll be difficult to do anything with green ๐ ๐
My last name is Graham, and I learned that it is a Scottish name. I have finished my Spring cleaning and now working on organizing my writing projects, and plan on cleaning some flower gardens soon and believe it or not my rose bushes are sprouting green and even a few small buds in the South. I have never been to Ireland. Hope your St. Patrick's Day is good.
Only three more days until Spring! Yay! That made me feel better already! Didn't know you were a half Brit. I am so sorry - how awful for you!! ๐ Hope you get to go back again although I think a trip to Ireland would have been brill too. I am going home to the UK in May and I can't wait! Thought this piece was really lovely.
No walking for me but looking forward to getting out into the garden to do some planting. I love spring! New life brings me joy. Birds busy, bees buzzing, colour returning. Bloody brilliant!
I have walked four miles today as well as doing my job, and see a lot of cats. Did you know it is also the feast of Saint Gertrude of Nivelles, the patron saint of cats and the people who love them? Excellent uplifting piece for the first day of the week
Very good work ๐
