Who Am I?
Everyone wonders who they are at some point of time or another. Some get the answers they're searching for, while others keep searching for years and years until they finally either die or give up and move on. Who you are and who you're supposed to be are two completely different things. Maybe you're supposed to be the perfect child and follow in the footsteps of your parents or grandparents. That doesn't mean that's who you are. In order to find out who you are, you must journey that path alone. The people you meet along the way will help you discover the answers you so desperately seek, but that's all they can do.

Being Alone Doesn't Mean You're Lonely
For years, I was just like any other middle schooler/high schooler. I had friends and a good base of support. That changed, though, sophomore year and my friends became my bullies. To this day, I have no clue as to why my whole friend group (as well as complete strangers) turned on me. They won't even give me or authorities involved in the matter a reasoning for their attacks on me and emotional abuse. This bullying continued until senior year, when I decided to completely isolate myself from everyone. I figured if I'm not close to anybody that nobody had the opportunity to hurt me. While that was true, it also gave me the opportunity to hurt myself without being aware of the fact that I was doing so.

However, if you have areas in which you need improvement that require either building up your character, your discipline, or even little behaviors in the workplace, then you may want to consider adopting some of those concepts into your life.

Silence
The silence woke her, the darkness was so deafening that her body could not ignore what wasn’t being said. Every cell in her body was screaming at her but no one could hear. She clawed and climbed attempting to escape the captivity that her thoughts had banished her to, but the higher she climbed the more she realized that the hole she was in was never-ending. She was unable to feel even herself, she wasn't even sure if she existed anymore. The only thing she had felt lately was the breathlessness that took her chest when the world started closing in on her. The walls threatening to crush her, her own body threatening to collapse in on itself. She could not breathe, she could not talk, or scream, she couldn't even cry. For crying would express an emotion and she no longer had any use for those. The cold, vacant, cavity that held everything vital for life was uninhibited by anything that made her feel alive.

Power of Words
"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me." This is a phrase we have all heard more than once in our lives. In my heart, mind and spirit; I understand this phrase is only true if you permit words to hurt you. Instead of allowing hateful words to penetrate my wall of truth and love; I find by offering words of mercy and kindness, hateful words become nothing.

Should You Be Your Own "Monday Morning Quarterback?"
We all know "them." In fact, you may work with a few—or more—of them. In your background, you likely had a teacher or two in school and/or a coach or two in sports who was one of them. If you are in the writing business, you might run into editors who quite often are indeed one of them. You may be related to them. In fact, you might be even be married to one of them! And you might be at the stage in your life where you miss having a parent who was one of them.
